Bone The Fish - Most Recent Comments!

Who said you can't coin your own term? What is "Boning the Fish"? It's a moment. A defining moment when you know that your favorite TV Show, Celebrity, Movie Series or Music Group has reached its peak. That instant you know from now on...it's all downhill. Some call it a climax of sorts. We call it "Boning the fish". From that moment on things will simply never be the same.

OK, I hate to do this but because I only want to share factual info and NOT perpetuate online lies, I must. I did some online research and found out that the British tabloid "The Daily Mail" had reported them dissing children cancer patients back in the mid 1980's. It was THAT allegation that I considered when deciding I could no longer stand them. Unfortunately, I didn't find out until last night when I did my research that "The Daily Mail" later printed a retraction to that claim so for THAT reason alone (and not because of anything the group themelves said), I must admit that the dis I had believed to be accurate has proven to be wrong (at least as to what they've been known to say as per public record). Also, I understand that one of the group CURRENTLY is fighting cancer so being that I'm not a vindictive person but someone who doesn't think anyone deserves cancer, I will even say I feel sorry for what that band member and his family are having to go through. OK, I'm STILL not a fan of the group per se (due to their performing style, etc.) but I don't want to dump on them for something there's no public record for them having done. -- Submitted By: (Pelirojo) on August 27, 2009, 1:48 pm

Keeping Up Appearances - TV Shows
"The bouquet residence, the lady of the house speaking!!!" Poor Richard's stuck doing everything she wants, and her poor neighbors Emmett and Elizabeth are too scared to say no to her invitations to tea. This show's hilarious, I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks so! -- Submitted By: (Robert) on August 27, 2009, 1:38 pm

I MEANT to say "The Monkees" debuted a quarter century LATER than "Fantasia". Sorry about that! -- Submitted By: (Pelirojo) on August 27, 2009, 1:36 pm

Fawlty Towers - TV Shows
Call me a nitpicker but I have to react to the comment #2... Connie Booth wasn't Cleese's TV wife in Fawlty Towers, she was his employee, his TV wife was Prunella Scales :-) -- Submitted By: (Tatiana) on August 27, 2009, 10:34 am

Fantasia - Movie Series
Wise words, PeliRojo, but BrewMaster and I are not the same person. Nonetheless, Fantasia still rocks. "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" is a classic, and "Night on Bald Mountain" should keep scaring the pants off of kids for generations to come. -- Submitted By: (Mythigator) on August 27, 2009, 6:10 am

How believable do I consider Bear's on-camera struggles for survival? About as believable as Bear being his given name! -- Submitted By: (Pelirojo) on August 26, 2009, 4:10 pm

Coronation Street - TV Shows
I saw it a time or so out of curiosity when I'd cross the pond and ,while I can't say I understand why it's lasted almost a half-century; I think it's interesting that the soap is soapy enough with working class characters with no attempts to glamorize their wardrobes, residences or take the settings to exotic locales. -- Submitted By: (Pelirojo) on August 26, 2009, 4:07 pm

Royal Family, The - TV Shows
Irony of bitter ironies was that at first the cast and crew actually thought Mr. Foxx was doing his Sanford impression when he was actually having his fatal heart attack. Then they later tried to salvage the mess by bringing in 227's Jackee in as, first Victoria's (Della Reese's) much younger sister- then ,after they decided it was too cumbersome to have to have the characters explain the relationship, they made Jackee's character Victoria's prodigal DAUGHTER (previously the daughter who had moved back into her parents' house after her divorce with her children that had triggered the original premise, had been Al and Victoria's only child). They needn't have bothered because the TV audience decided the whole thing was too cumbersome to bother with after Mr. Foxx's death. -- Submitted By: (Pelirojo) on August 26, 2009, 3:56 pm

Fantasia - Movie Series
Shh! Careful, Mythagator! MTV et. al would quickly yowl that they were invented by 'The Monkees' a quarter century earlier. Still, if one wants to take rock music out of the equation as a requirement re music videos, one could go back even further to c.1931 with the musicals of Busby Berkeley from 1931 who eagerly turned dancers' legs, etc. into cogs of many a musical kaleidescope way back then! Check them out and see you think if Disney might have actually drawn some inspiration from them! -- Submitted By: (Pelirojo) on August 26, 2009, 3:50 pm

Keeping Up Appearances - TV Shows
Thanks, Dolfan! True about Hyacinth being a neighbor nobody would want to have closer than Antarctica - and it also goes without saying that Richard likely would prefer to be on a different PLANET from his overwhelming spouse! Dennis the Menace (1959 sitcom) - TV Shows
Funny thing is that it wasn't the title character who was Mr. Wilson's worst nemesis,it was the nosy spinster neighbor Miss Cathcart (played by the marvellous Mary Wickes)- and her character never once appeared in the strip! One could even say that Miss Cathcart would be what Margaret would grow up to be (and, yes, Margaret could drive even Dennis to become a Mr. Wilson)! -- Submitted By: (Pelirojo) on August 26, 2009, 3:39 pm

What's Happening!! - TV Shows
It was okay but I didn't like how they got rid of Mama with her just leaving Raj and Dee for no real reason given. And to leave them with Shirley?! All That - TV Shows
Those early seasons with the original cast were the best. They were written by real actors and it wasn't kids trying to pass off fart jokes and silly names that sound like poop as comedy. The crazy and diverse characters of Josh Server, the dynamic of Kenan and Kel, Lori Beth Denberg hosting the iconic Vital Information, Kevin Koppelow as the stage manager, and I didn't even mind when Amanda Bynes joined and did Ask Ashley. She was funny enough. It got a little tougher after that when original cast members really began to leave. Danny Tamborelli (from Pete and Pete) was the last new cast member I could tolerate. He was funny enough too. I think the show was already on a downhill slope after him, as he played too many similar characters to Server. But the re-vamp with the new cast and changing its format and framework and then, the biggest insult, trying to redo the Good Burger sketch, was it for me. Don't even mention to me that Jamie Lynn Spears spent time on the show. -- Submitted By: (SamuraiPanda201) on August 24, 2009, 1:37 pm

While there are entries for Coca-Cola and Pepsi, this topic appears to be for soft drinks in general. However, I bought a Jones Cream Soda from my mall the other day, wanting to continue collecting unusual soda bottles. After two sips, I dumped the rest of the Cream Soda out! It sort of tastes like medicine! Yuck! Santa Clause, The - Movie Series
Being a "Golden Age" film, along with the excellent show "Home Improvement", the first "Santa Clause" was great! However, when parts 2 and 3 came out, it just wasn't the same. Tim Allen was starting to become unknown, and Disney has already morphed into a "teen-to-young adult" studio. Anyway, this demonstrated what I am about to tell you: I was experimenting with different search engines looking for "microscope diagrams" and upon hitting the trademark button, I got one of those STUPID "If you're 18 or older, hit 'I Agree'; otherwise hit 'I Disagree'." Wikipedia - Websites
Wikipedia boned the fish when some vandalizers started teasing the Dallas/Fort Worth area users, exciting them with unsourced information for no apparent reason. Why is it that, of all the parts of this lovely country, Wikipedia so chooses to bully us North Texans, huh? First, we are force-fed untrue information regarding aviation services (e.g. DFW starting flights to some unknown Mexican city, Dubai, etc., airlines such as Iberia, Qantas, Air India, all promising DFW as a future destination). Then, some mom-and-pop independent station says they're going to launch a free, 24-hour classic TV station on 54-2 (despite honest-to-Pete sources linked to the article) and guess what? WE DON'T HAVE IT YET!!!!! I predict third time WON'T be the charm and someone will put in "Bloomingdale's will be opening a store in Dallas!" Weekend at Bernie's - Movie Series
The first movie was actually pretty good! Having a dead guy as a main character was an original enough concept that it made for a pretty good take at the box office. But the concept was only good for ONE movie. They should have let Bernie rest in peace and FEED the fish instead of boning the fish by grinding out a sequel. -- Submitted By: (Mythigator) on August 23, 2009, 11:21 am

Brett Favre - Celebrities
Brett Favre is NOT a Day 1 BTF. He had his heyday and I had a lot of respect for him even when he was wiping up the field with my Broncos! :-) But this revolving-door retiirement/unretirement thing is ridiculous. MTV: Music Television - Random Topics
MTV boned slowly. The first sign of it was "The Real World" That was one of the first reality shows ever, but when it was the only one it was somewhat forgivable. Beavis and Butthead was funny and at least they could justify it by showing videos. Then you had the pop explosions of the late 90s. "TRL" epitomized the celebrity worship that is wrong with American and then you had "Celebrity Death Match", "Room Raiders", "Two a Days", etc. etc. etc. -- Submitted By: (MCS) on August 22, 2009, 3:00 pm

Yo Yogi! - TV Shows
The show ignored the premise of the original cartoon. Why did this teenage bear who lived in a city all of a sudden live as a wild bear? Also, why was Boo-Boo in it? Wasn't he a kid in the original cartoon? I know it is a cartoon about a bear but it still made no sense and showed a lack of creativity. -- Submitted By: (MCS) on August 22, 2009, 2:50 pm

Once again, I agree with Dolfin316. Brett Favre is a joke. JoeBagODonuts who we all suspect is SmartBoy from the old site, will also go berserk if you comment on WalMart or Dawn Lyn (Who is listed under several shows under Best Of The Best)Why does JoeBagOWind care if others think someone sucked?. Streets Of San Francisco, The - TV Shows
I have to agree with Shanequia when she said that Dawn Lyn's character seemed borderline retarded. The problem with JoeBagODonuts theroy that every user is the same person who thinks Dawn Lyn sucked, is that he left out myself along with Gregeicherberger, Hikariu, Travoltron, Mythigator & many others. Could JoeBagODonuts possibly be SmartBoy from the old website? Smartboy went off when people didn't like someone he liked. This disturbed new user will go berserk if you don't like Dawn Lyn, WalMart & Brett Favre. Maybe I will go berserk everytime someone makes a rude comment about Vicki from the Love Boat. She also sucked but not as bad as Dawn Lyn. -- Submitted By: (AlanJames) on August 22, 2009, 8:22 am

Dunkin' Donuts - Random Topics
I love their donuts but I HATE their breakfast sandwiches. One time I lost the use of my car (needed repairs and didnt have the money to fix it yet). So to get to work I had to rely on public transportation: A bus to take me to the train which took me to another bus which got me to work. At the train station there was a Dunkin donuts place. I was quite hungry that morning and had a long wait for the bus to take me to work, so I decided to buy not one, but two of their egg sandwiches. I realized I was in trouble when I watched the Dunkin Donuts employee pull out this long white tube which had a yellow dot in the center. I guessed that this was the egg for my sandwich. The employee took out a knife, cut off a couple of slices, put them on a couple of english muffins, then stuck them in the microwave. I was hoping it would taste better than it looked. Unfortunately I was wrong. It tasted just as bad as it looked. I took only a couple of bites out of the first sandwich before I threw the both of them out. Stay away from their breakfast sandwiches! (I know nothing about their coffee since I'm not a coffee drinker) -- Submitted By: (bmovies) on August 20, 2009, 9:31 pm

Man vs. Wild - TV Shows
Of the two "guy surviving wilderness" shows on Discovery, I prefer Survivorman over Man vs. Wild. Survivorman comes off as more realistic and less contrived, and I like Les's style better than Bear's. But to give Man vs. Wild due credit, it's pretty good and hasn't really had a BTF moment. Also -- and more importantly -- in a survival situation, you'd be worse off being alone than having EITHER Bear or Les out there with you. They both know what they're about, even though Bear sometimes seems to favor flair over realism. Les rocks better, but Bear still rocks. -- Submitted By: (Mythigator) on August 20, 2009, 6:03 pm

Whale Wars - TV Shows
I've seen some bits and pieces of the episodes, and it seems like there's always something wrong with their ship: engines running crappy, navigational system on the blink, or some other glitch which keeps them from running interference on the big bad evil Japanese whalers. At BEST, these guys are thoroughly ineffective eco-terrorists - in a "Which Jeff Dunham Puppet Are You" quiz, these guys would all match on Achmed the Dead Terrorist. Day 1 BTF, but that doesn't go far enough. "Humped the whale shark" would be more like it - if you'll pardon the Scottish Site reference. -- Submitted By: (Mythigator) on August 20, 2009, 5:32 pm

For me, it boned with Dr. Greene died. He was the most "believable" character on this show, and apparently, the most stable. Abby was moody as hell, and then her SERIOSLY bi-polar mom would show up and wreak havoc. Carter was addicted to painkillers, then was totally manipulated by that Kim chick he hooked up with in Africa, who never treated him right. Benton had anger issues. Weaver couldn't decide if she liked men or women. Romano was borderline sociopathic. Luca made the mistake of marrying Abby. They don't have any of the problems we do, their idea of a bad day is getting a zit or breaking a nail. -- Submitted By: (DolFan316) on August 19, 2009, 6:25 pm

Keeping Up Appearances - TV Shows
WOW Pelirojo, great summary!!! Think the producers were trying to send a message with Violet's misery and Daisy's relative contentment? Hyacinth OWNS!!! Although I would never want her as my neighbor :-) -- Submitted By: (DolFan316) on August 19, 2009, 6:22 pm

Streets Of San Francisco, The - TV Shows
Hey Rebecca/JohnnyRocket/Shanequa, I suspect you are one person because you spend all day attacking Dawn Lynn and anyone like myself who dares to defend her. Calling me an idiot doesn't further your cause. Seriously, seek help, get medication, something. -- Submitted By: (JoeBagODonuts) on August 19, 2009, 6:20 pm

Brett Favre - Celebrities
I just have to laugh when I see that most people have voted that Brett sucked from the start. Really? He is one of the greatest football players of all time and in the very top tier of all quarterbacks to EVER play the game....and he sucked from the start. Go read his stats, look at his 3 consecutive pro bowl starts, look at his superbowl ring...and he sucked from the start? Really? I would guess everyone is punishing him for his annual will he play, won't he play ritual that he had in Green Bay which was followed by the will he retire will he stay retired ritual. If ANYONE has earned the right to do this it's Brett Favre. I like his quote on his latest come back with Minnesota which was something to the effect of "If you don't like it, don't watch it. It's career and my legacy." Brett Favre is everything that's right about the NFL and professional sports in general. He's an extremely talented competitor who loves the game and doesn't get caught up in all the off the field antics that so many other do. You go Brett! -- Submitted By: (JoeBagODonuts) on August 19, 2009, 6:09 pm

Sarah Palin - Celebrities
Palin's political opponents have been predicting her political demise before her resignation. Like during the loss of the election. And before her running as VP. Before she was Governor and was Mayor of Wasilla. And they always picked some silly, insignificant reason for this supposed future demise. Her resigning is no different to her opponents. They now use that as an excuse to dismiss her political career as completely over. Tomorrow they'll predict her political demise again, and will choose a brand new reason to explain it. Most people look at her resignation and just shrug their shoulders. Anyone who predicts that she has Boned the fish, so to speak, just because of her resignation, is engaging in wishful thinking. Many politicians have resigned from office for various reasons, only to return at a later date. Reminds me of the Mark Twain quote: "This report of my death was an exaggeration" -- Submitted By: (bmovies) on August 19, 2009, 3:34 pm

Listen Up! - TV Shows
This show was not on for very long. It was mildly entertaining, but the the kids were so annoying. The son was your typical stupid jock and the daughter was an unbearable bitch. In all, a pretty forgettable sitcom. -- Submitted By: (MCS) on August 19, 2009, 11:39 am

Beastie Boys, The - Music Groups
Day 1 BTF because their music was just plain annoying, regardless of their politics or who they allegedly disrespected. To me they sounded like people who had been in primal scream therapy and thought they were still in it. "You can take the boys out of therapy, but ..." -- Submitted By: (Mythigator) on August 19, 2009, 7:28 am

Sarah Palin - Celebrities
While I will stand by post about the aerial gunning for wolves, the fact that she resigned from the Governor's office will go down in history as one of the biggest fish bonings in history. How can anyone possible take her seriously if she runs for office? You can't have someone in office who quits that easily. -- Submitted By: (MCS) on August 19, 2009, 12:10 am

Ann Coulter - Celebrities
She is a female version of Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity. And that is not a good thing. -- Submitted By: (MCS) on August 19, 2009, 12:06 am

Wonder Woman - TV Shows
Wonder Woman boned in Season 3. It strayed from its original concept to the point where it got just plain weird. You can make a good case for the episode guest-starring Dawn Lyn being the tipping point, since it was the first episode of the third season. But the blame for the show's demise is more properly placed on the writers, not on Ms. Lyn, no matter HOW sucky or freaky her guest appearance was. I remember this episode, and she did indeed suck. At the time, I had no idea that Leif Garrett was her real-life brother. After the fact, though, it does explain why their acting (Lyn's and Garrett's) came off as so wooden and why something just seemed off. All the same, though: The blame for Wonder Woman going BTF belongs to the writers, with an extra portion going to whomever decided to cast Lyn and Garrett. -- Submitted By: (Mythigator) on August 18, 2009, 10:57 pm

War of the Worlds (1989 Series) - TV Shows
The whole second season was one long excruciating fish-boning. Getting rid of Ironhorse was one of the stupidest cast changes in television history. -- Submitted By: (Mythigator) on August 18, 2009, 10:32 pm

Housecat Housecall - TV Shows
This show is pretty good, and shouldn't bone as long as it sticks to its format (helping cats and their humans live together harmoniously) and doesn't get sidetracked onto anything else. It looks like the show's creators actually understand the importance of not getting sidetracked: I saw an episode with a segment that featured Peter Weller (of Robocop fame) and they referred to him only as an "Actor" -- and as Peter the cat owner, of course. The segment never even mentioned Robocop or anything else Weller's been in, staying on topic rather than getting caught up in Weller's celebrity status. Nicely done! -- Submitted By: (Mythigator) on August 18, 2009, 10:22 pm

Beastie Boys, The - Music Groups
Don't believe everything you read on the internet, DolFan; the "baldies and crippies" line just sounded made up to me. Nothing personal Rojo, I'm just having a VERY hard time picturing the BB saying that about cancer victims (in a children's hospital, nonetheless). -- Submitted By: (Indigo) on August 18, 2009, 6:50 pm
