Bone The Fish - Most Recent Comments!

Who said you can't coin your own term? What is "Boning the Fish"? It's a moment. A defining moment when you know that your favorite TV Show, Celebrity, Movie Series or Music Group has reached its peak. That instant you know from now on...it's all downhill. Some call it a climax of sorts. We call it "Boning the fish". From that moment on things will simply never be the same.

Sims, The - Random Topics
I HATED The Sims when it first came out with the burning passion of a thousand suns!!! My God, where do I even begin with this abomination??? How about the fact that the player had to literally do EVERYTHING for the characters, and if you didn't they'd urinate right on the floor, pass out where they stood, etc. Or the fact that each room took about 10-15 minutes of "Sim" time to walk across, meaning that if you didn't start walking across your living room to go outside to your carpool 15 minutes before time they'd leave you or you'd be late for work? Or how about your character actually getting DEPRESSED and refusing to function if you didn't keep buying stuff? As far as I could tell that was literally the only reason for even having a job (hey, same as real life!). Or that somehow your guy didn't and could never own a car yet one mysterious person in the neighborhood did and everyone else had to jam inside it just to get to work? Or that your guy had to work EVERY SINGLE FREAKING DAY? Or that it was actually possible to burn to death cooking food? Or that if you went more than one day without cleaning the kitchen, this massive cloud of flies would appear out of nowhere and buzz around? Or that you could start off the game living with a woman, but couldn't have sex until you spent a month or so TALKING with her every spare minute you had? Worst game ever!!! GAAAAH!!! -- Submitted By: (DolFan316) on June 27, 2009, 7:16 pm

Atkins Diet, the - Random Topics
Another incredibly lame fad that I hated. Every single day for about 2 years it was Atkins diet this, Atkins diet that, Atkins Atkins Atkins, and then the guy dropped dead and all of a sudden the same people who were pounding into my brain how "healthy" it was suddenly changed their tune overnight! Just more proof that the food nannies, as I call them, don't have a clue what they're talking about and have actually contradicted themselves multiple times over the past few decades on what a "healthy" diet is. -- Submitted By: (DolFan316) on June 27, 2009, 7:06 pm

Super Bowl - Random Topics
The games themselves are actually better than ever. The ads on the other hand...I remember when they used to be genuinely entertaining, and got me through some putrid Super Bowls in the 80s and 90s. Then it happened. January of 2000, Titans-Rams. They just suddenly stopped being entertaining that year and ever since. It's a night and day difference between the ad quality before and after that Super Bowl. I used to be bored by the game and watch the ads, now I watch the game and mute the ads! -- Submitted By: (DolFan316) on June 27, 2009, 7:00 pm

Y2K Bug, The - Random Topics
BAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Remember this fiasco? Everything that was controlled by a computer was supposed to break down at once, which was supposed to trigger mass hysteria and the collapse of humanity as we know it. The media was ADAMANT about this. I personally never did understand how a simple date change would cause every other function of a computer to suddenly crash, but maybe that was just me. And then Jan 1, 2000 came and went, and...NOTHING HAPPENED. And you KNOW it wasn't because the problem was magically fixed, because people these days don't have the ability to fix ANY problem other than the most trivial ones. -- Submitted By: (DolFan316) on June 27, 2009, 6:55 pm

Mike Tyson - Celebrities
Like another Mike who just died, Tyson actually was a big star for about 5 years, which somehow convinced some people he should be one for life. Tyson's true BTF moment came with the Douglas loss. Everything--and I mean EVERYTHING--bad that happened to him afterwards was a direct result of that night. -- Submitted By: (DolFan316) on June 27, 2009, 6:48 pm

Michael Jackson - Celebrities
I'm glad ChubbyRain said what he did so I wouldn't have to. I'm *already* sick of the MJ lovefest, and it hasn't even been a week! But unfortunately for those of us who never thought he was God's gift to humanity, his death (like Elvis's) is going to wind up "convincing" everyone he was this megastar all along, and pretty soon there will be legions of MJ imitators, MJ songs in almost every ad (if not MJ himself thanks to CG), the MJ postage stamp, a parade of posthumous MJ albums that might be more than he produced when alive, etc. -- Submitted By: (DolFan316) on June 27, 2009, 6:39 pm

Galactica 1980 - TV Shows
Galactica 1980 never really got off the ground. It did have a couple of bright spots (the episode with Wolfman Jack guest-starring and the episode with Starbuck), but calling BSG 1980 a Day 1 BTF would be a fair assessment. For me, though, as a 13-year-old seeing the show on TV, the BTF moment was when I realized when Dillon and Troy got on their flying motorcycles, it was the same shot EVERY TIME when they took off: Always with the power lines in the background, and always turning in the same direction as they climbed. -- Submitted By: (Mythigator) on June 26, 2009, 9:52 pm

Battlestar Galactica 1978 - TV Shows
Battlestar Galactica itself still rocks and never BTFed, although the "Wild West" episode with Starbuck defending a village against gunslinging Cylons came close. The actual fish-boning didn't take place until they decided to make Galactica 1980, and it's not fair to blame the GOOD season of BG for that. -- Submitted By: (Mythigator) on June 26, 2009, 9:30 pm

Michael Jackson - Celebrities
Ive viewed this guy as a pedophile and a con artist for the last 20 years, raping kids, paying people and rigging cases to get out of it... and then just using that wealth illusion to keep ringing up more and more bills and not paying for it, I call it a wealth illusion because even though he made alot of $$$ I just saw he died at least 410 million in debt. What a jerk, I also heard that he stiffed the attorneys that helped him et out of his last child molestation charges, poetic justice... But anyway, the MJ brand will actually do better now that he is dead and people can focus on that Jackson 5- thriller era and control his image like the ELVIS brand does. I really dont like MJ, and that fake "Look Im hetero" kiss with Lisa Marie was still one of the most singular BTF moments of all time. Michael we wont miss you. -- Submitted By: (Chubby Rain) on June 26, 2009, 3:31 am

Maybe pandas aren't lazy. Maybe it's just that female pandas have the same standards as human ones, most of whom don't seem to want to have a kid with 99% of the guys they meet. Keira Knightley - Celebrities
Keira Knightly BTFed when she got bony herself. In the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie, she was slender, but still nicely proportioned. In POTC2, she was so skinny it looked like they were forcing all of the fat on her body to her chest in order to give her enough cleavage for those period costumes. She wasn't any better in the third movie, which begs the question of what Will Turner and Jack Sparrow ever saw in her. No need to bone THIS fish - it's bony enough already. -- Submitted By: (Mythigator) on June 25, 2009, 9:47 pm

Guinness World Records - Random Topics
Agreed with the tabloid reason: I remember when the Guinness Book of World Records was a heavy, thick paperback filled with hundreds if not thousands of records and small print. The presentation was very weighty and official, and the appearance of the book itself lent an air of authority to the records presented within. Now it's just a flashy hardcover, and some versions I've seen are thin and only contain the most "popular" records, such as those that were on the short lived and awful TV show. If you want the old GBoWR, I suggest getting a copy of the TIME Almanac, as that book is the closest thing I can find to what the GBoWR used to be. -- Submitted By: (castaghast) on June 25, 2009, 2:07 pm

Panda Bears - Random Topics
1) Sure an animal can bone the fish, they just always have the option of boning back. Think of chihuahua's: those Taco Bell commercials, Paris Hilton always carrying one around, etc etc. Pet turtles when Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was popular. And then there were Dalmatian puppies when the live action 101 Dalmatian movie came out. 2) A lot of titles here aren't the proper titles for their subjects, as most of them officially contain the author's or creator's name as part of the title: IE Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda, Disney's Gummi Bears, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's "The Lost World." People who are looking for a topic still find what they're looking for. 3) Pandas are cute, but I had to agree with the "too lazy to have sex" option: I laughed until my stomach hurt. -- Submitted By: (castaghast) on June 25, 2009, 1:46 pm

Nelson - Music Groups
Musically, these guys still rock. Multi-talented performers who deserve more credit than they've received. They love what they do and have kept a good name for themselves as well as honoring their legendary late father and his music. Gunnar's foray into reality television in 2006 on "Celebrity Fit Club" could have been a lame thing but fortunately, he was cool, disciplined and acted like he was on there for all the right reasons, so it turned out to be good. This used to me my favorite channel back in the day they had it all Looney Tunes, Tom and Jerry, Tex Avery's MGM cartoons, Popeye,Flintstones, Scooby Doo,Batman the animated series, Animaniacs, and stuff like that, and great original shows like Dexter's Lab,Powerpuff Girls, Johnny Bravo, Ed, Edd, and Eddy, Courage the Cowardly Dog, 2 Stupid Dogs, The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, Samurai Jack, Justice League, then in 2004 they took off most of their original shows and almost all of their classic cartoons except for Tom and Jerry and Scooby Doo but they had a few good shows like Teen Titans, Camp Lazlo, and some anime imports like Naruto but in 2008 they took off Toonami which got rid of all of their anime and action shows, and it went even further recently when they took off nearly everything except for their recent shows and started showing live action programming which does not belong on this channel. -- Submitted By: (comic_guy87) on June 22, 2009, 10:55 am

Nintendo Wii - Random Topics
Alright McT, let's not start turning this thing into a forum. But anyway, do you really want us retro-gamers to wait until a future century or so to bring back consoles like the NES and Super NES in their original form? No, we can't wait that long, because then we'd all be gone. At this moment in time, I am not willing to start a rebellion against Nintendo myself. I'm just throwing an idea out there that can spark revolution. Who wants to see Super Mario Bros. 4, 5, 6, etc. for the NES console? Who wants to see cartoons like SpongeBob, Fairly OddParents, Dora the Explorer, Rugrats, and Scooby-Doo on the NES, Super NES, etc. consoles? I suggest there should be some sort of rebellion against Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon as well. Besides the classic consoles I mentioned, I also think the powdered wigs and dress of the 1700s should come back into fashion. -- Submitted By: (Marcus) on June 22, 2009, 9:37 am

George W. Bush - Celebrities
Vincent, it seems that you are the one with delusions. Do you honestly think the terrorists who want us dead are suddenly going to be really sorry for what they did just because Barack Obama wants to be their friend? Wake up! This is real life, not a cartoon where the villains are remorseful at episode's end. And, believe it or not, I'm not brainwashed by the Republicans. They didn't sway my decision. They didn't need to. The anti-Bush Liberal news reports were already doing a good enough job: From what I saw, they practically sided with Saddam and Al-Qaida just to be as anti-Bush as possible. They never again mention the horrible deaths endured in 9/11 but report again and again the mistreatment of prisoners at Gitmo. They criticize the "unprovoked" attack against Iraq even though Clinton did the exact same thing a few years ago. They criticize Bush for killing Iraq's people but say nothing about Saddam having killed his own people. I could go on and on. Also, if you must know my political affiliation, I'm independent. And, to be fair, Bush did have his problems. All presidents do. Even Obama. Excuse us for not joining you and your sheep in bleating "Democrats good! Republicans bad!" all day long. I never was much impressed with this show, mostly because Jon comes off as the archtypical henpecked hubby. I wonder how much of his "extracurricular" activities are simply a quest to reclaim his man card! George W. Bush - Celebrities
Vincent I'm amused by your comments, as with many people Ive read or seen recently declaring Obama or Bush worst president ever, there seems to be no scope of history outside of the last 25 years- Benjamin Harrison, Ulysses S. Grant etc. were by far many times worse than any more recent president. Also, hundres of thousands of American Troops died fighting to stop murdering dictatorships and communist regimes in the last 100 years, do you feel that Lyndon Johnson or John Kennedy are awful presidents for the tens of thousands of troops that died fighting in south east asia? Clinton did some good things, and was weak on Security, Bush was a terrible speaker and was tough on terrorism, and the whole Iraq conflict enforced the UN's resolutions and has installed a semi representative government in place of a murderous dictatorship, and our troops are on the way out soon, thanks to Obama. Calling Bush the "Worst President Ever" makes you sound like a bad SNL skit. Also, New Orleans suffered due to Bush, but also due to some of the most corrupt democratic party politics found in any state in the country, it's easy to find blame all over the place. AND THEY LET HER GET AWAY WITH IT!!! She is a complete Bimbo that now thinks she is above all of that, guess what you are completely replaceabke and have no real talent except your ass- see the other great films like "Honey" and "Into the Blue"- you shake your ass in one film, and wear a bikini in the other. Enough of this tartar sauce covered lousy actor with a nice body- go away now, please! -- Submitted By: (Chubby Rain) on June 20, 2009, 4:42 pm

Are You Being Served? - TV Shows
They didnt get exactly get rid of Mr. Lucas. In the UK many tv series like this one filmed only about a dozen or so episodes a year. (unlike the United States where tv series run about 25 episodes a year). This took about only 7 weeks. So actors need to find other acting jobs to carry them through the rest of the year. On top of that, the BBC always gave too short notice to the actors about whether or not they intended to renew AYBS for another season. The actors usually left their schedules open for a certain time of the year just in case the show got renewed. Trevor Bannister (Mr Lucas) didnt do that one season. He got himself tied down to a contract to do a play. They tried to alter the schedule of the taping of the show so that he could do both the play and tv series, but it didnt work out. -- Submitted By: (bmovies) on June 20, 2009, 2:25 pm

Different World, A - TV Shows
Im on the fence with late 80's early 90's cool or not cool, it just depends on what it is, but we can all agree A DIFFERENT WORLD was lame.... -- Submitted By: (Chubby Rain) on June 20, 2009, 4:47 am

George W. Bush - Celebrities
It warms my heart to see people actually presenting the REAL truth as opposed to the liberal media's version of it. All those who thought Bush was the Worst President Ever are about to get a dose of what a REALLY bad president is like! -- Submitted By: (DolFan316) on June 19, 2009, 7:43 pm

Different World, A - TV Shows
HEY!!! The early 90s were NOT lame!!! The late 80s, yes. This decade, definitely. But the early 90s not only rocked, they may well be the very last period of pop culture to ever do so now that Big Brother--I mean big business--has completely ruined the "entertainment" industry. -- Submitted By: (DolFan316) on June 19, 2009, 7:41 pm

Dark Angel - TV Shows
HA!!! tell it like it is, ChubbyRain!!! I never did get the big deal about her. IMO she doesn't even have that great looking a face, it's a bit pug-like if you ask me. -- Submitted By: (DolFan316) on June 19, 2009, 7:39 pm

Papa John's Pizza - Random Topics
I come from New York City. This may sound like an egotistical New Yorker comment, but New York pizza is the best anywhere. I've been in many other states, and the pizza just doesnt compare to New York's. About 8 years ago I took a trip to Los Angeles, CA. Near my motel was a Papa John's pizza place. At that time I never heard of Papa Johns (today there are a few Papa Johns near where I live), but I decided to give it a try. I bought a pie, brought it to my motel room and ate it there. Dont get me wrong. It wasnt BAD pizza, but in taste, quality, and similarity, it was just like a pizza from Dominos. And both places are quite inferior to the traditional pizzas made here in New York by the small business pizza places. -- Submitted By: (bmovies) on June 19, 2009, 3:42 pm

Scary Movie - Movie Series
Quite possibly the worst movie series ever. They will lower your intelligence quotient by at least 20 points. I feel dumber when I catch even a clip from this crapfest. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE! Scary Movie and its entire franchise will do to your brain what gangrene does to your arms and legs! -- Submitted By: (Robert) on June 19, 2009, 1:57 pm

George W. Bush - Celebrities
I remember when the WTC was attacked in 1993. There are people who bash Bush because he "failed to prevent the WTC attack" when he had less than a year. They say Bush was warned by the CIA and FBI that the terrorists were going to attack again. Compare to Clinton, who had 7 (Yes, SEVEN!) years to prevent it from happening again. It's hypocritical to criticize Bush for "allowing" 9/11 to happen when he was in office for less than a year, but leaving Clinton unscathed when he had 7 years to step up security to prevent an encore. And to the people who get down on Bush for launching attacks against Iraq and Saddam Hussein over alleged nuclear weapons and to topple his regime: Guess what? Clinton did too. Does a little event called "Operation Desert Fox" ring a bell? No? You were probably too caught up in the Lewinsky scandal to remember or notice, since both were taking place at the same time in 1998. -- Submitted By: (Robert) on June 19, 2009, 1:39 pm

Gomer Pyle USMC - TV Shows
Never boned. I used to watch syndicated reruns of this as a kid in the 1970s. However, they pulled it from the free airwaves, and I never saw it again for 30+ years untill they released it season by season on DVD. I rented all five seasons (not all at once, but each time they released a season). And the first episode, the last episode, and all episodes in between were quite entertaining, funny, charming, and delightful. Certainly much more than ANYTHING they put out today. -- Submitted By: (bmovies) on June 19, 2009, 11:35 am

Different World, A - TV Shows

George W. Bush - Celebrities
Bill Clinton's getting a nice retroactive resume update here. Sorry Vincent, Bill set up a dangerous powderkeg of stripping national security from boots on the ground to funding for programs that would have prevented terrorist groups from gaining a foothold like they did. USS Cole Bombing, earlier WTC bombing attacks were both signs of what was coming, and the response was firing a cruise missle into an old Terrorist camp. The seeds that were sown under the Clinton Administration blossomed in 2001 under bush's administration. Just like some of Bush's administrations economic issues are fully blossoming under the Obama administration in 2009. -- Submitted By: (Chubby Rain) on June 19, 2009, 5:54 am

Seinfeld - TV Shows
I didn't really watch Seinfeld that much, except as reruns. It had memorable scenes: the Soup Nazi shouting "NO SOUP FOR YOU!" to customers who rub him the wrong way, and Seinfeld dating the native American woman and trying not to use certain words which could be construed as slurs such as "scalper" or "indian giver". I don't know what to make of the final episode. Why would Kramer join in the fun of mocking a fat guy who's being mugged when he's the most conscientious of the four, and is one of the nicest people in the show? He even goes so far as to record the event on tape. -- Submitted By: (Robert) on June 18, 2009, 2:00 pm

Bonkers - TV Shows
I remember on Animaniacs, Slappy Squirrel (who was one of the unfunniest characters on the show) made a knock against Bonkers for being unfunny. That joke made me laugh. -- Submitted By: (Robert) on June 18, 2009, 1:18 pm

David Letterman - Celebrities
When it came to Letterman's comments about Sarah Palin's daughter getting "knocked up" by A-Rod, he alleges that he was referring to 18-year old Bristol Palin (the joke was a reference to her teenage pregnancy), and not the 14-year old Willow. Palin was attending a baseball game, and it was Willow, not Bristol, who was with her mother. -- Submitted By: (Robert) on June 18, 2009, 12:50 pm

Joey (TV series) - TV Shows
I so wanted to like this show. I gave it a few weeks, and though the apartment was kind of cool and the nephew was a pretty good comedic foil, the rest was as riveting as cold runny oatmeal. They tried to assemble an "ensemble cast" (and I don't intend to compare this to "Friends"; it was supposed to be a different show); but where WAS the "ensemble" feeling here? My pet peeves: The agent (way too obnoxious and scatterbrained; how would she function in the REAL Hollywood? She's useless, Joey get rid of her); Not enough characters for decent plot development; the blond next door doesn't offer much except an apparent disdain for her own life (ALWAYS hanging at Joey's place); and the most obvious; TOO MUCH GINA. While I respect Drea DeMatteo's work on "The Sopranos", her character was not serving any useful purpose: Too rough around the edges. Too many low-cut blouses. Every peripheral male character supposedly "fell for" her. Come on, act your age ya floozy and please develop an existence beyond your brother's apartment! The most interesting episode (character-wise) was the one when Joey threw a party. The kooky attendees were pretty funny; that kept me watching for another couple of eps but then the show reverted to the bland Gina-worship and the stale "duh" slapstick Joey's character had become chronically plagued with. The writers were asleep at the wheel there. Give Jerry Seinfeld a call, for crap's sake. This bunk did not do Matt LeBlanc's talent justice. The show was on fumes season 1. -- Submitted By: (Lori9) on June 18, 2009, 12:43 pm

'On the Loose' was had some of the most inventive lyrics and instrumentals (and the video was a good homage to "Bonnie and Clye"). I've often wondered why this band didn't become more famous and lasting! -- Submitted By: (Pelirojo) on June 18, 2009, 11:09 am
