I largely agree with the last comment, though Cus's death needn't have been the start of Tyson's descent. Had Bill Cayton and Kevin Rooney shared Cus's good sense (and his big heart), they could have helped guide Tyson through the dangerous waters of sudden fame for perhaps several more years. But they were both too overt in their greed, and Tyson figured that if he was going to be used as a piece of meat for someone else's financial gain, the user might as well be a black guy (Don King) who, unlike Cayton and Rooney, didn't even bother to pose as a respectable human being. Therefore, the start of the Tyson-King relationship was the true Boning Moment. -- Submitted By: (Soggy9000) on April 7, 2011, 3:17 am - (0 votes)

Think of this. When Tyson was being trained by, and watched over by Cus D'Amato, he didn't have many problems. It was once he died, that Tyson's problems started snowballing into an avalanche. By the early 90's, yes, Tyson was a total wreck, and it got even worse. It looks like Tyson is now trying to make something of his life though. In terms of boning... Buster Douglas. After that, there were a few peaks, but that was when that avalanche was really rolling. -- Submitted By: (PYLrulz) on May 25, 2010, 6:25 am - (0 votes)

Ear Biting was a stat of a long line of problems. Mike Tyson was nothing more that a thug that got lucky and show he can blow opportunities. -- Submitted By: (scatcatpdx) on May 24, 2010, 2:22 pm - (0 votes)

Mike was a victim of circumstance. Hollyfield was head butting the hell out of him, Mills Lane did nothing about it, so he kinda lost it. I understand Mike. I would have bit that MF too. They probably would have had to disqualify me for whipping old Mill's ass. -- Submitted By: (fletch000) on February 11, 2010, 3:51 pm - (0 votes)

Tyson must have mistaken Evander Holyfield's ear for a fish, and his own teeth for a boning knife, because that was his BTF moment, without a doubt. I'm mildly surprised that "biting the ear" didn't get its own place in the pop culture lexicon, along with the catchphrase from <> the Scottish Site. -- Submitted By: (Mythigator) on June 29, 2009, 1:17 am - (0 votes)

Tyson was beginning to bone way before the Buster Douglas fight. I knew he had serious issues when he accompanied his then-wife Robyn Givens- a supporting performer on "Head of the Class" along with the the rest of the cast and crew to Moscow what was intended to be a historic post-Detente moment of a then-top rated US network sitcom getting permission to film in the then-Soviet Union's capital city for the very first time. However; it wound up that not only did Tyson attract huge crowds of fans and reporters over there (who totally ignored every show cast member not married to Tyson) but then he had a very public meltdown in their Moscow hotel! Ironically, the episode itself and even the show itself was somewhat ecclipsed by Tyson's meltdown and few folks even remember it besides the connection of having one its costars having had a very acrimonious end to her marriage with Mike Tyson! -- Submitted By: (Pelirojo) on June 28, 2009, 11:28 am - (0 votes)

Because it happened afterwards, then yes.
Before Douglas (BD) Mike Tyson was on top of the world, seen as an unbeatable megastar athlete. EVERYBODY thought he was the shiznit. Afterwards, his legacy began to die piece by piece. -- Submitted By: (DolFan316) on June 28, 2009, 2:23 am - (0 votes)

Getting convicted of rape was a result of his losing to Buster Douglas? -- Submitted By: (rick283) on June 27, 2009, 8:38 pm - (1 votes)

Like another Mike who just died, Tyson actually was a big star for about 5 years, which somehow convinced some people he should be one for life.
Tyson's true BTF moment came with the Douglas loss. Everything--and I mean EVERYTHING--bad that happened to him afterwards was a direct result of that night.

Poor Mike Tyson. I feel sorry for him. He's had so much fish I think he's actually got mercury poisoning. I always know someone smells like fish when I click on their name and there are a good four or five reasons why they've boned the fish, and I agree with all of them. I guess he really boned it the worst when he started chewing on his competitors ears. -- Submitted By: (JoeBagODonuts) on May 12, 2009, 12:00 am - (0 votes)
