Fairly OddParents, The Comments (You must Login to Comment)

This one is up to debate, but the live-action movie "Grow Up Timmy Turner" could be candidate for a "Bone to fish" moment. If Darran Norris was right on target to perform Dad in live-action since he gived his voice in the cartoon. However there was no cameo of Dinkleberg it all! Also, instead of Hugh Magnate, the main vilain should had been Remy Buxenplenty. And the ratings was good then they'll make another live-action special, this time a Christmas special. I wonder if Drake Bell's career might bone the fish as well? -- Submitted By: (Sailorchevy) on July 9, 2012, 9:53 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Apparently not. As for Poof, he's useless. Sure, he doesn't steal the spotlight, but his only purpose is barf, poop, puke, and fart jokes. He's a total copy of Histeria's Big Fat Baby. Poof's even shaped like him! While I'm here, why the $#&@ did they copy one of the worst cartoon characters from one of the worst cartoons ever? Anyhow, the rest of the characters, as others said, just get more and more stupid. Some gags or quotes are repeated over and over. One example is in the episode "Talkin' Trash": Timmy wishes the garbage away, which causes weird things to happen. Cosmo and Dad suddenly had the lower halves of ostriches, laid eggs, and said "Man Egg!" like a hundred times. A joke does not suddenly become funny when repeated over and over. It seems the only ones who learn this lesson are the viewers. Now that I think about it, everyone in the cartoon business is copying the Simpsons' formula: make everyone get stupider with each new season, repeat jokes over and over, make the main characters idiots and/or selfish jerks, get too zany. -- Submitted By: (Robert) on June 12, 2011, 7:41 pm - (2 votes) - Login to Vote
BTW, on topic for the live-action movie, I really don't see why Nickelodeon thought it was a good idea to make one. Didn't they learn anything from the Avatar: The Last Airbender movie? -- Submitted By: (cartooner) on June 9, 2011, 8:09 pm - (2 votes) - Login to Vote
A lot of people could say that Poof is what killed the show, and I while I find him unnecessary, I feel like the show was starting to die even before then. As the show went on, it felt like every character (except for Wanda) became a complete idiot, which was getting annoying for me. I still kinda liked the series, though. -- Submitted By: (cartooner) on June 9, 2011, 8:07 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
It really seems like it, Robert. I actually haven't seen a cartoon movie for a long time now. I think one of last cartoon movies was The Simpson Movie and The Princess and the Frog. I'm don't mind CGI movies like Toy Story though but it seems there alot of them lately. Anyways a live-action version from a cartoon is almost never a good idea, at least they could've have done the Fairly OddParents movie fully CGI or just stick to drawn animation. -- Submitted By: (SSM) on June 9, 2011, 5:10 pm - (2 votes) - Login to Vote
You know how it seems they always have to make a live-action movie of cartoons that are at least 20 years old? Good news: you don't have to wait that long! There's a live-action movie of the Fairly Oddparents coming to theaters. Timmy is an adult who won't grow up, and Cosmo and Wanda are CGI. Why do they make cartoon series into live-action movies? What's wrong with making CARTOON movies? Are animators really getting that lazy? -- Submitted By: (Robert) on June 9, 2011, 12:51 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
I love fop but adding poof to the show sometimes messed up the dynamics. it like timmy forgot his parents and started a family with cosmo, wanda and poof after awhile. the plots werent even good. they need more eps like the old one where timmy was smart and did that brainathon with aj, etc. -- Submitted By: (LauDor08) on January 2, 2011, 2:29 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
The real problem with Poof is that he doesn't really add much to the show apart from the occasional puke gag. Other than that, he mostly spends his time being carted about by Wanda and looking cute. Now, if Butch Hartman knew that the show will go on for at least another decade or so, then he could show us the childhood/learning of a fairy, but I doubt that that's on the cards. No, Poof is a real fish-boner, which is a pity in such an intelligent and funny show. -- Submitted By: (KenShinn) on March 3, 2010, 3:07 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Believe it or not, the birth of a new character doesn't always cause a show to go downhill. Sure, the birth of Dil in "Rugrats" made that show lose its charm. But the birth of Doug Funnie's baby sister in Disney's version of "Doug" did not cause its downfall, though Disney made other obvious changes that caused the show to suck. However, the birth of Poof breathed new life to "The Fairly OddParents" and its humor. At this moment in time, Nickelodeon is giving more support to shows like "Back at the Barnyard", "The Mighty B!", and "The Penguins of Madagascar", which all suck. And this show is very underrated based on most of the votes here at BTF.com. But FOP never lost its great sense of humor and deserves much better ratings than those it has now. Had Butch Hartman decided not to bring Poof on, FOP would have continued with the same old structured and recycled plotline, and you guys would have hated the show much more. And I assume that's what Butch was thinking. -- Submitted By: (Marcus) on August 10, 2009, 9:34 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
The first couple of seasons and the 7 Minute shorts that aired on "Oh Yeah, Cartoons" where great because of the randomness, craziness and the occasional pop-culture reference and so forth, this is why I liked the other Butch Hartman shorts "Gramps", "Hillbilly Blue", "Danger Dan", "Fish and Chip" for example, they had the same wacky feel and zany animation. Sadly, I believe Mr. Hartman left the show to work on "Danny Phantom" or another reason. The show slowly declined. First, Timmy and Cosmo's voices changed, also Chester and A.J.'s, although theirs were more drastically changed. C & A.J. basically went from having deep, laid back voices, to them being more high pitched. Then, the characters changed. Timmy became more lazy, bratty and annoying (I'm guessing that's not surprising, considering he has 2 magical beings granting his every wish), also, Cosmo became an annoying idiot. So stupid he destroys entire civilizations by "accident"? Wanda became slightly annoying as well, but not as bad as the others. The show also became predictable, (Timmy wishes for something, the wish backfires, they can't "unwish" it, but find a loophole, and they all live happily ever after). And they keep using the same running gag every 5 minutes. I recently watched an episode with my Nephew, and they did the same joke of Timmy's parents to stop to go to the bathroom on a road trip at least 4 times. God. Yeah, this show used to be pretty good, but now it's just slowly getting worse. Poof was tolerable, just unnecessary, dead weight, though. Kind of like when Dill showed up on "Rugrats". -- Submitted By: (Johnny_T._Bird) on June 28, 2009, 10:31 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
What is wrong with you people?! This is NOT a show that boned day one! The Wild Thornberrys IS. Who ever thinks The Wild Thornberrys, that horrible cartoon, is great, is an IDIOT! And whoever thinks FOP sucks entirely is also an idiot. -- Submitted By: (Marcus) on June 9, 2009, 3:48 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
How come all the boning reasons (except "Never Boned") have gone up?! The user who did that is an idiot! If not, Dwight Eisenhower was Jewish. -- Submitted By: (Marcus) on May 29, 2009, 12:27 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Sucked from the start?! No! It is one of the greatest shows on Earth. What sucked from the start was "The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest". How lame! If the person who voted that way isn't an idiot, Luther Vandross was a British singer. -- Submitted By: (Marcus) on May 15, 2009, 3:25 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
