Music Groups - Led Zeppelin

Led Zeppelin were an English rock band formed in 1968 that consisted of guitarist Jimmy Page, singer Robert Plant, drummer John Bonham, and bassist John Paul Jones. With their heavy, guitar-driven blues rock sound, Led Zeppelin are regularly cited as one of the progenitors of heavy metal[2][3] and hard rock,[4][5] even though the band's individualistic style drew from many sources and transcends any one music genre.[6][7] Led Zeppelin did not release songs from their albums as singles in the United Kingdom, as they preferred to develop the concept of album-oriented rock.[3]

Led Zeppelin Comments (You must Login to Comment)

I don't get everyone saying they copied everyone else. If they did, then they took a little here and a little there and put it all together in the right way. The Beatles took stuff from Chuck Berry and Elvis, Elvis took stuff from the old gospel singers, all musicians do it. It's called being influenced by someone. To me, Jimmy Page is the greatest guitarist of all time. Better than Eddie Van Halen, Eric Clapton, or Jimi Hendrix. Robert Plant is one of the greatest vocalists ever. John Bonham goes down as one of the greatest drummers. He kept it simple but heavy. I read somewhere that he used bigger drumsticks than most drummers and I believe it. John Paul Jones' keyboard and bassist licks were unique as well. Led Zeppelin did not ever bone. -- Submitted By: (JoeBagODonuts) on April 3, 2012, 1:19 am - (6 votes) - Login to Vote
Actually, I recall an interview with Robert Plant rightafter after The Honeydrippers started charting where Plant said that it was a project they always wanted to do together. I'm just guessing that they wanted to put a little time distance between Zeppelin and the Honeydrippers. -- Submitted By: (Friedrich_Feuerstein) on November 23, 2011, 1:04 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
The band itself never boned IMO but Plant and Page did BTF with that lousy Honeydrippers record that spawned "Sea Of Love" which peaked higher than "Whole Lotta Love" from their LZ dsys.. I'm sure they kicked themselves for that one -- Submitted By: () on November 22, 2011, 7:52 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Whenever I need a good hard rock/heavy metal pick me up, Led Zeppelin always does the trick. Their later albums started going downhill as they flirted more and more with pop, but I think they called it quits before any major damage was done. -- Submitted By: (kingbk) on October 14, 2011, 4:17 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
For some, I just think its the number of songs that they plagerized that became hits. Does it bother me some? Yeah, but regardless of that, they are still a good band to listen to. -- Submitted By: (PYLrulz) on September 15, 2011, 5:35 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
I like Led Zeppelin! They don't make bands like this anymore. Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones, and John Bonham were amazing as a collective group. Oh and lrbloom your so right about the plagiarism BS. It's not like LZ's the only band to do it. As a matter of fact the "greatest" rock band of all time, The Beatles, were guilty too. -- Submitted By: (Jp) on September 14, 2011, 11:24 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
Yes, they plagiarized a few songs and it was settled in or out of court. Let's move on shall we? -- Submitted By: (lrbloom) on September 14, 2011, 6:07 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
"Plagiarized a few songs"? There are at least ten songs that they stole from other acts. That's what we know about. I'll grant you this, they're the greatest cover band ever. -- Submitted By: (rixter) on April 19, 2011, 2:49 pm - (-8 votes) - Login to Vote
In Through the Out Door was not only their last album but their weakest, so it's possible they were on the downward slide at the time of Bonzo's death. But they were still WAY better than anyone else at the time, so I vote "Never Boned". -- Submitted By: (Soggy9000) on March 31, 2011, 7:35 pm - (3 votes) - Login to Vote
What's a Beiber? -- Submitted By: (lrbloom) on February 25, 2011, 6:41 am - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
You people are complete idiots. Go listen to Justin Beiber or something. -- Submitted By: (MyWordIsGospel) on February 13, 2011, 9:00 pm - (-2 votes) - Login to Vote
So what if they plagiarized a few tunes. They paid for it - it's time to move on. -- Submitted By: (lrbloom) on December 7, 2010, 7:00 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
I think that all of the votes saying that LZ "sucked from the start" was from somebody who was vote-stuffing. -- Submitted By: (cartooner) on August 1, 2010, 12:24 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
Now this is amazing... can't believe how many people hate Zeppelin. They weren't a critical success for their time but generally loved by the public. They never boned but if you were twisting my arm, I'd say their synth-sounding stuff is my least favorite, e.g. 'All of My Love'. -- Submitted By: (RedPower) on January 31, 2010, 9:37 pm - (2 votes) - Login to Vote
The death of John Bonham didn't cause any boning of the fish. That doesn't make sense. The group disbanded after his death. It is to their credit they stopped making music together knowing they could never replace the best drummer of all time. They went out on top unlike The Who and the Stones who let the cash cow keep rolling after deaths and departures and old age............P.S. Im pretty sure its probably just one guy who keeps voting that they boned from day one. -- Submitted By: (rodduling) on January 29, 2010, 1:12 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
I voted NEVER! even though John's death put a damper on the project. Is there some twitter troll pushing the wrong button? -- Submitted By: (GJ) on January 10, 2010, 9:11 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
I'm in agreement with Nature_Boy. WHAT?!! Zep could never bone!! They are one of the most influential bands of all time belonging in the "Changed the Landscape of Rock Music" category, along with The Beatles and Nirvana. Boned from Day 1. The very idea!! *storms off in a huff* -- Submitted By: (Stephanie) on December 17, 2009, 6:50 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
The fact that Led Zeppelin was a huge gang of plagiarists that stole most of their music and had to be sued into giving money or credit for the work of others is a good place to start on why Zeppelin BONED -- Submitted By: (Chubby Rain) on December 17, 2009, 3:28 am - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
Wh-wh-wh-wh-whoa-whoa-WHOA! As I'm reading this now, out of 176 votes, 69% say Led Zeppelin...Led f-ing Zeppelin...sucked from the start? WTF?!! Really? REALLY?!! I'm totally flabbergasted! I implore you haters to have the guts to post a comment. Not so I can rip you for your ignorance, but just so I can become educated. There must be some reason why 69% think they sucked from day 1, but right now I absolutely do not get it. -- Submitted By: (Nature_Boy) on December 16, 2009, 8:29 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
