Pee-wee's Big Adventure is a 1985 adventure comedy film directed by Tim Burton in his full-length film debut. Paul Reubens, Phil Hartman and Michael Varhol wrote the script, starring Paul Reubens as Pee-wee Herman, Elizabeth Daily, Mark Holton and Diane Salinger. The film tells the story of Pee-wee Herman embarking on nation-wide adventure in search of his stolen bicycle.
Big Top Pee-wee is the 1988 family comedy sequel to the 1985 film, Pee-wee's Big Adventure, and stars Paul Reubens as Pee-wee Herman, Penelope Ann Miller, Valeria Golino, and Kris Kristofferson. The original music score is composed by Danny Elfman. The film is marketed with the tagline "Hero. Lover. Legend."
On the morning after a tornadic whirlwind, farm boy Pee-wee Herman awakens to discover that a travelling circus has been deposited in his backyard. Befriended by circus owner Mace Montana, Pee-wee is hoping to impress Gina Piccolapupula, a lovely trapeze artist; thereby incurring the jealous rage of his hometown sweetie Winnie Johnston. Pee-wee wants to join the circus but all his attempts to do so fail badly.

Like I said, I love the '80s, but I could never stand this guy. I did like Pee-Wee's Big Adventure in spite of him, but that's about it. I remember being terribly amused when he got arrested that first time. (In retrospect, I question why an adult theater would call the cops on such activity; seems like they're in the wrong business if they can't handle it themselves.)
