Music Groups - Aerosmith

Aerosmith is an American hard rock band, sometimes referred to as "The Bad Boys from Boston" and "America's Greatest Rock and Roll Band". Their style, rooted in blues-based hard rock, has come to also incorporate elements of pop, heavy metal, glam, and rhythm and blues, which has inspired many subsequent rock artists. The band was formed in Boston, Massachusetts in 1970. Guitarist Joe Perry and bassist Tom Hamilton, originally in a band together called the Jam Band, met up with singer Steven Tyler, drummer Joey Kramer, and guitarist Ray Tabano, and formed Aerosmith. By 1971, Tabano was replaced by Brad Whitford, and the band began developing a following in Boston. Aerosmith is the best-selling American hard rock band of all time, having sold 150 million albums worldwide, including 66.5 million albums in the United States alone. They also hold the record for the most gold and multi-platinum albums by an American group. The band has scored 21 Top 40 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, nine #1 Mainstream Rock hits, four Grammy Awards, and ten MTV Video Music Awards. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001, and in 2005 they were ranked #57 in Rolling Stone magazine's 100 Greatest Artists of All Time.

Aerosmith Comments (You must Login to Comment)

Their 70s output is their best. Many of their best songs can be found on the 15 track edition of their original greatest hits album. I particularly like Big Ten Inch Record, a great novelty song that fools you into thinking they're going to say something naughty. I don't really care too much for their more recent power ballads, particularly I Don't Want To Miss A Thing, a bad song from an even worse movie. For them, that's their boning moment. -- Submitted By: (JayD) on November 21, 2011, 12:27 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
I don't mind Aerosmith from time to time. I actually think they boned in the 90's, but that's just my opinion. I think they're songs are overplayed on the radio and Tyler being involved with Idol further solidifies him boning bass to trout. -- Submitted By: (Jp) on November 20, 2011, 1:39 pm - (2 votes) - Login to Vote
Honestly, anything past "Toys in the Attic" doesn't do it for me. -- Submitted By: (Stephanie) on November 20, 2011, 8:37 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
I liked them better when they were the "toxic twins." The music actually felt authentic and had guts and soul. Though I'm happy Steven Tyler and Joe Perry got control of their lives, the music doesn't pack the same punch. From the 80s onward it's been boring ballads, silly pop songs, video games that suck and Disney rides. Outside of "Janie's Got a Gun" and "Living on the Edge", I really haven't been impressed with their 80s-today output. And Steven Tyler becoming an American Idol judge... ugh! Joining his contemporaries Ozzy Osbourne and Gene Simmons in posting his mug onto any pop culture thing possible to stay relevant. -- Submitted By: (kingbk) on November 18, 2011, 8:33 pm - (3 votes) - Login to Vote
Technically, the "Country Song Covers" option is incorrect. The Aerosmith version of I Don't Want to Miss a Thing came out before the country version. -- Submitted By: (cartooner) on December 6, 2010, 5:21 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
The Armageddon movie and that horrible song ruined Aerosmith. -- Submitted By: (rodduling) on January 27, 2010, 1:37 am - (1 votes) - Login to Vote

They still remain the only band I have ever walked out on. They are old and boring. -- Submitted By: (markkus) on December 21, 2009, 1:55 pm - (-1 votes) - Login to Vote
The late 80s when they started churning out crappy love ballads by the barrel full. -- Submitted By: (TheAdamantiumElbow) on September 20, 2009, 11:18 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Definitely when they became just another ballad band in the late 80s. I stopped taking them seriously after that. -- Submitted By: (DolFan316) on June 9, 2009, 6:11 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
When they let too many people outside of the band contribute writing songs for them. They were at their best when they didn't care about having a hit. "Permanent Vacation " was the beginning of the end,"Just Push Play" was the nail in the coffin. All of their music in the 70's was great however. -- Submitted By: (EricP) on June 9, 2009, 3:11 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
They turned in a hard pop-rock band singing mostly sappy love ballads after they cleaned up. -- Submitted By: (Jon_Dohnson) on June 4, 2009, 10:07 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
One of the very few groups who are just as good now as they were when they started. -- Submitted By: (MCS) on May 28, 2009, 10:33 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
