This was one of the best, most underrated shows ever produced. After the success of That '70s Show, of course the network had to come up with something to ape that show's success. They came up with the next respective decade, and you could tell a lot of thought and detail went into creating That '80s Show. It was filled with great comedy and high quality acting. The sets were great and the writing was spot-on! It soon became funnier and better than That '70s Show, and went on to win several Emmys. Unfortunately, Ashton Kutcher was dating the head of Fox at the time, and he did not like this show out-shining his show, so he had his lover axe it, and alas, there was no more 80s Show, and the world erupted into chaos. -- Submitted By: (Englebert) on June 13, 2014, 11:47 pm - (6 votes) - Login to Vote

Someone on JTS once made the keen observation that That 70's Show was made by people that loved the 1970s and That 80's Show was made by people that hated the 1980s. I totally agree. Also the characters on That 70s Show felt like real people (at least in the early seasons), whereas That 80's show's characters were just walking, talking '80s cliches. And if you haven't seen it already, check out That 80's Show creator Mark Brazill's epic flamewar with Judd Apatow. Brazill comes off like the scum he is and makes freakin' Judd Apatow look dignified. -- Submitted By: (Travoltron) on August 9, 2011, 12:53 pm - (3 votes) - Login to Vote
Well, 90s nostalgia has already kicked in (at least in people like me). -- Submitted By: (cartooner) on November 29, 2010, 8:52 am - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
Stephanie, I'm sorry to say I've gotta disagree with you this time. 80s nostalgia kicked in right when the 2000s started. Was it right to suddenly hear almost every song from '89 again everywhere just 11 years later? NO!!! But right or wrong it was rampant, and for a show centered around 80s nostalgia to flop as badly as this one did at a time like that is nothing short of astounding. IMO it's actually way past time for 90s nostalgia to start kicking in, but since the Baby Boomers weren't young in the 90s and most 90s media would remind us all just how lame and corporate-controlled the entertainment industry has really become today I'm guessing the Powers That Be will hold off as long as possible and maybe even skip it altogether. -- Submitted By: (DolFan316) on November 28, 2010, 11:33 pm - (3 votes) - Login to Vote
Lame attempt to cash in on the popularity of the 70's Show. Didn't really last long enough to really getoff the ground. Had potential but tried too hard to work in pop references each week. Totally... -- Submitted By: (lrbloom) on November 28, 2010, 8:29 am - (2 votes) - Login to Vote
I think we are just at the right time to make a show about the 80s. It would have to have a bit of a different format but it could work. In about five years we can make one about the 90s. (I'm getting old). :( -- Submitted By: (MCS) on October 26, 2009, 9:26 pm - (2 votes) - Login to Vote
This show boned because it aired too soon. 80's nostalgia had not kicked in back in 2002, so it wasn't fully appreciated. If it were to air now....it would be a massive hit. -- Submitted By: (Stephanie) on October 6, 2009, 1:39 pm - (3 votes) - Login to Vote
