I always thought Latka, Simka and Reverand Jim were GREAT background characters who had some fun zingers to add to the mix. However; when episodes were centered around any of these three, it would be rather wearisome by the end. TAXI worked best as an ensemble with adventures around the entire cabbie collection rather than one or two being the 'star'. However; all that said, Danny De Vito's Louie never failed to rock, AFAIC! -- Submitted By: (Pelirojo) on April 20, 2011, 8:12 am - (1 votes) - Login to Vote

A little Latka went a loooong way. And Carol Kane as his wife was living hell on my ears. Jeff Conaway I didn't care for, but the rest of the cast was great. (Marilu Henner rocked my world bigtime.) -- Submitted By: (Soggy9000) on April 18, 2011, 11:41 pm - (4 votes) - Login to Vote
If it wasn't Alex's endless preaching, it was the insufferably quasi-mentally deranged Latka that hooked the fish, drug it on board, snarfed it down, and barfed out the skeleton. -- Submitted By: (HistoryProf) on November 24, 2010, 10:02 pm - (-1 votes) - Login to Vote
A fun, wacky show that featured Andy Kaufman in prime time and somewhat launched Danny De Vito,Rhea Perlman,Tony Danza and Christopher Lloyd's careers! I never got tired of Kaufman but sometimes they focussed too much time and storyline to Reverand Jim who was a funny supporting character with quirkly one-liners but not someone really worth being the main focus, IMO! -- Submitted By: (Pelirojo) on February 20, 2010, 11:41 am - (-1 votes) - Login to Vote
The only problem I ever had with Taxi was Andy Kaufman, I hate Andy Kaufman. -- Submitted By: (quimbyt) on October 6, 2009, 9:47 pm - (-1 votes) - Login to Vote
Another show that Tony Thomopolous (head of ABC's programming department from the '70s until 1985) killed by moving it from one night/time on the ABC schedule to another. Thank goodness that the show's first four seasons are on DVD (just for the sake of contrast, Life Goes On and Benson have had only their first season on DVD, but not subsequent seasons). What an eclectic set of memorable characters (my favorite was Christopher Lloyd as Reverend Jim Ignatowski). -- Submitted By: (markrabo) on September 29, 2009, 3:18 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
