I never liked Colonel Blake on MASH and was glad to see McLean Stevenson go on to one of the most spectacular career suicides ever! Hello Larry was one of a half dozen epic fails for the actor who quietly slipped from the public view while Colonel Potter (the immortal Harry Morgan) lead the 4077th on to greater glory. -- Submitted By: (spacer) on October 22, 2014, 7:52 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
I don't think either of them was as bad as the one where McLean played a priest at a youth center for street toughs. That was "Love, Sydney" bad! -- Submitted By: (ParkerTillman) on September 24, 2012, 10:24 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
stryker, Comparing a bad apple and a rotten orange, these shows are in a virtual dead heat re how bad each was from Day One - the addition or subtraction of the late Mr. Stephenson notwithstanding, IMO. -- Submitted By: (Pelirojo) on September 15, 2012, 10:09 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
tell me which was worse (and which boned the most).. Hello, Larry or..AfterMASH? -- Submitted By: (stryker73) on September 14, 2012, 5:46 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
Parker, Please note that I said Mr. Stephenson had left 'M*A*S*H' to 'wind up' doing this show not that this was the very first thing he did thereafter. -- Submitted By: (Pelirojo) on September 14, 2012, 9:40 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
In fairness, McLean didn't leave "M*A*S*H" to do this. "Hello, Larry" was about his 3rd or 4th failed sitcom after M*A*S*H. I think before this you had "The McLean Stevenson Show" and another one where he played a priest (lasted all of 3 episodes I think). You'll have to decide for yourself if this "revelation" makes his decision look better or worse, lol. -- Submitted By: (ParkerTillman) on September 13, 2012, 4:16 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
McLean Stephenson left M*A*S*H to wind up doing this?! Only thing sadder was when he later attempted to be an afternoon blabshow host! A performers playing one of his daughters would wind up being aunt to Paris Hilton. I wonder if she'd rather folks remember her work in "Hello Larry" than that factoid? -- Submitted By: (Pelirojo) on December 20, 2009, 4:48 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Truly the worst sit-com ever. Only the "Micheal Richards Show" even approaches it in the BTF Hall of Fame. If only they could have had Dawn Lyn as a guest star, this show could have surely been the Worst Show Ever. -- Submitted By: (smaxie) on December 16, 2009, 12:27 am - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
Did the people who voted "Never Boned" even see this program? After all, it only stayed on the air for about a year back in 1979. The show was about a radio talk show host (think Rush Limbaugh without the charm) and followed two other disasterous sitcom efforts ("The McLean Stevenson Show" and "In the Beginning") and would proceed another, "Condo." Still, after leaving the highly-successful "M*A*S*H" series, Stevenson did appear as a regular on "Match Game," so all wasn't lost. Fun trivia: The day after Stevenson died in 1996, the man who originated the role of Col. Henry Blake in the film version of "M*A*S*H," Roger Bowen, also passed away. -- Submitted By: (GregEichelberger) on July 16, 2009, 11:23 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
