1 What's interesting here is that Betty White played Sue Ann Nivens as a proto-Martha Stewart years before few outside Mrs. Stewart's family had heard of her. Moreover, she played the character as an outrightly evil but still comedic person who used her veneer of domesticity to entrap her intended prey! Ironically, she debuted as the arch-rival to the closest previous nemesis Phyllis (Cloris Leachman) so those two were never able to unite. Good thing, or else everyone else would have been annihilated! Ted tried but he was simply too much of a buffoon to do any real damage until the ironic last episode. Although Sue Ann and Lou could always be counted on for good laughs, the show just never was as fun after Rhoda left for New York. -- Submitted By: (Pelirojo) on July 14, 2009, 11:42 am - (2 votes) - Login to Vote
