TV Shows - Huff

Wikipedia summary: Huff was an American, Emmy Award-winning television dramedy series produced by Sony Pictures Television for Showtime. The series was created by Bob Lowry and features Hank Azaria as Dr. Craig "Huff" Huffstodt, a successful psychiatrist whose life changes abruptly when a 15-year-old client commits suicide in his office. After years of helping clients deal with their traumas, Huff now has to deal with his own, and is forced to re-evaluate his career and his entire take on life. The first season was broadcast on Showtime between November 7, 2004 and January 30, 2005. The second season premiered on April 2, 2006 and ended on June 25, 2006. Two days before the finale, Showtime announced that the show would not be picked up for a third season. Possible BTF reason: Same Character, Different Actor (Huff's dad is played by Robert Forster in season 1 and Tom Skerritt in season 2) Other than that, great, great show; why it was ever cancelled is beyond me.

1 This was a great show! In the very first episode a teenage boy commits suicide in Dr. Huff's office. So much for being in touch with his patients! Huff realized he had become terrible at his job and hated the Beverly Hills lifestyle his wife and mother had forced him into living. Over the next two seasons, Huff desperately tries to rediscover his passion for helping people including his psychotic brother and increasingly disturbed son. The show won a butt-load of awards. The fact it was cancelled the very day it won it's second straight Emmy for best drama speaks volumes about Showtime. There's a reason HBO is number 1, they stick with great shows even if the ratings suck. -- Submitted By: (spacer) on April 25, 2015, 7:35 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
2 Are you kidding? This was one of the best shows ever on TV, cable or otherwise. Talk about a dream cast: Hank Azaria, Paget Brewster, Oliver Platt, Blythe Danner, Swoosie Kurtz, Anton Yelchin, Anjelica Huston, Annie Potts, and Tom Skerritt, all brilliant actors, not to mention the guest cast! I still can't believe this awesome show was cancelled after 2 seasons by a very, very, very shortsighted Showtime. It's legendary around my house and we still have two favorite quotes from the show: #1: Huff walks in on his wife and mother (Izzy) in the kitchen. The mother (Blythe Danner) leaves immediately through the back door. Huff: What the hell was Izzy doing here so early? Mrs Huff: Foraging for vodka. #2: Huff and Mrs. Huff are in bed discussing the revelation that their 14-year old son had attended a rainbow party, wherein the boy with the most different colors of lipstick on his penis (applied by the girl partiers) wins a prize. Huff: Who the hell invented the blow job party? Mrs. Huff: A man! Seriously, it was brilliant! -- Submitted By: (jmac9909) on March 27, 2013, 2:57 pm - (4 votes) - Login to Vote
