Political Correctness Comments (You must Login to Comment)

I vote Day 1 because nobody wants to be wrong or admit their wrongs. They must be right in some way or another in order to empower themselves. You can't say or do anything anymore without some pretentious douchebag popping up and screaming how immoral and wrong you are when you express an opinion. It goes against Free Speech, it goes against Freedom of Expression, it goes against everything people have died over. Racism and Sexism would die by now if people would just simply stop being so PC about both issues. Just petty shit people fight over. -- Submitted By: (Infyrin) on October 6, 2013, 5:27 am - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
I think it's proven to be a very poor substitute for manners and civility which were too thoughtlessly trashed in the name of 'freedom'. -- Submitted By: (Pelirojo) on August 28, 2012, 10:00 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Political Correctness sucked from Day 1. It is simply a method of "creative censorship". However, instead of outlawing free speech (which would, after all, be politically incorrect), they simply make certain speech so shameful that nobody would want to use it. For while they aren't threatened with arrest, they are threatened with job loss and public ridicule. That's why I LMAO when people get all uptight about Romney calling the London's handling of the Olympics "disconcerting". These days that's considered a gaffe, lol. Political correctness gone berzerk, which was the only path it could ever take. Sucked from Day 1 because it's a quasi-limit to free speech, and it's CLEVER about abridging that right. -- Submitted By: (ParkerTillman) on August 27, 2012, 4:10 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
I'm not going to say there are no Conservatives who try to censor stuff they deem offensive, but unlike conservatives, when a liberal pushes to censor something, they usually get their way. A liberal's idea of PC is not limited to replacing words with euphemisms ("Little person" instead of "dwarf" or "midget", etc.). If you took kingbk's post and replaced "atheism" with "God", "abortion" with "Pro-Life", and "profanity" with "prayer", it would be a pretty accurate example of liberal censorship. Let me conclude with a lesson from the Simpsons: You can't be for one form of freedom of speech but against another. -- Submitted By: (Robert) on May 6, 2010, 7:58 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
Nope. PC is strictly a liberal concept. Don't lump conservatives into it when they just want people to stop acting like gangsta wannabes and destroying America from the inside. -- Submitted By: (DolFan316) on May 6, 2010, 6:26 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Political Correctness is the posion created by both the left wing and the right wing. Left wing: "They are African-American mentally challenged little people." Ring wing: "We're all about freedom, as long as atheism, abortion, and profanity aren't involved." -- Submitted By: (kingbk) on May 3, 2010, 3:58 pm - (6 votes) - Login to Vote
Ugh, political correctness. The two words in the English language when used together in that context make me want to throw up. It's nothing but thinly-disguised Newspeak from 1984 by George Orwell. -- Submitted By: (BigAl) on April 15, 2010, 10:48 am - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
Political Correctness has done nothing but help to tear this country apart even more than it was before the silly concept ever got started....Freedom of speech? Yeah..... -- Submitted By: (MichaelJL) on April 13, 2010, 12:46 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
Other things, too, but I think I was subconsciously commenting on the Tebow ad. One ad had Betty White being tackled TO THE GROUND by a football player. But when Tebow PLAYFULLY tackles his mother, guess which one they criticize for promoting violence against women? They're really clutching at straws to villify Tebow's commercial. And they insist we call them "pro-choice", not pro abortion. But, they get up in arms when the other choice (reconsider getting an abortion) is being encouraged to pregnant women. How is that pro-choice? Well, I guess it is...in this case, "choice" is a euphemism for "abortion". -- Submitted By: (Robert) on February 12, 2010, 10:50 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Robert, I'm assuming you're referring to the "controversial" Time Tebow Super Bowl ad, which "women's rights groups" were up in arms about and were telling everybody to boycott, but nobody has any problem with BACK TO BACK Super Bowl ads showing men with no pants. Am I right? -- Submitted By: (DolFan316) on February 12, 2010, 12:45 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
It's a strange world we live in where religious expression is "politically incorrect", while things which are worse such as sex, violence, etc. are not. -- Submitted By: (Robert) on February 7, 2010, 5:50 pm - (2 votes) - Login to Vote
\"The purpose of Newspeak was not only to provide a medium of expression for the world-view and mental habits proper to the devotees of Ingsoc, but to make all other modes of thought impossible.\" - 1984 (Nineteen Eighty-Four) -- Submitted By: (BrewMaster) on January 13, 2010, 6:47 am - (2 votes) - Login to Vote
Some political correctness was needed in our society. But too quickly it's gotten out of control. (some alternate terms sound too absurd to me, like "vertically challenged" - sounds too much like a defect they have to overcome rather than to just be accepted by society). But still baffles me why it's acceptable to still call actresses "actors". When phrases become too wordy and cryptic that we can't keep them straight anymore -- it's time to scale back a bit and lighten up somewhat. -- Submitted By: (ocfernan) on October 2, 2009, 5:55 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Good point, Robert, but Thought Police is more like it. To see what political correctness looks like when carried out to its logical conclusion, have a look at either 1984 or Animal Farm by George Orwell. -- Submitted By: (Mythigator) on August 11, 2009, 5:40 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
Political correctness is just a euphemism for censorship. -- Submitted By: (Robert) on August 11, 2009, 1:13 pm - (2 votes) - Login to Vote
PREACH IT SCOTTYB!!! Political correctness is the biggest threat to free speech America has ever faced. It's straight out of George Orwell's 1984 novel. And it was invented by liberals! -- Submitted By: (DolFan316) on August 2, 2009, 4:33 pm - (2 votes) - Login to Vote
Political correctness is a crock of shit. It's almost funny how it protects certain groups at the blatant expense of others. PC is simply a tool that the ACLU and other Communist organizations are using to erode this country from the inside out. -- Submitted By: (ScottyB) on August 2, 2009, 8:49 am - (4 votes) - Login to Vote
