50 years from now, unless something changes, Miley Cyrus MIGHT be known for swinging around on a wrecking ball naked or twerking her deformed looking ass on TV, but she'll be forgotten. Pope Francis, with the good he has done already, and if he can keep it up, will be remembered long into the future -- Submitted By: (PYLrulz) on December 15, 2013, 3:51 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
My prediction for 2013's Person of the Year is the new Pope. Whoever they choose should not be somebody that is always twerking, taking off her clothes, and sticking her tongue out. That's right, Miley is one of the finalists. If she gets the honour, then next year it should be Planet of the Year: Dumbed Down Earth. -- Submitted By: (JayD) on December 9, 2013, 7:36 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Again, I'm seeing this rampant and irrational anti-protest vibe going on, and I just don't understand why? People protest56ing against corruption and amorality by government and big business is a BAD thing now??? Huh??? What??? It's a whole lot better than Time naming some lame celeb their person of the year. -- Submitted By: (DolFan316) on January 12, 2012, 6:10 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
I protest against Time's pick "Protestor of the Year"..oh wait, that makes ME a protestor.. and named Time's POTY TWICE!!.. yea i don't take their 'picks' seriously anymore.. (like the Nobel Prize) -- Submitted By: () on January 12, 2012, 10:31 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
It seems that many do not know what the Person of the Year is really about. And regarding the Protestor for 2011, there are years that the Person of the Year was a generic person such as a the U.S. Solider (in the 1950s). Some years, it was a thing such as the personal computer. -- Submitted By: () on January 10, 2012, 8:11 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
So the Person of the Year is the Protester. Anyone going to protest this decision? -- Submitted By: (JayD) on December 17, 2011, 5:27 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
The "Person of the Year" this year... The Protestor. -- Submitted By: (PYLrulz) on December 16, 2011, 4:53 pm - (-1 votes) - Login to Vote
What a lot of people don't seem to realize is that TIME's Person of the Year isn't supposed to be an honor or award. It's simply acknowledging whomever had the biggest impact on the news that year. Period, for good OR for bad. On that argument, Hitler, Stalin and Khomeini WERE the perfect choices for their respective eras. No fish-boning here! -- Submitted By: (Mythigator) on March 22, 2010, 8:16 am - (3 votes) - Login to Vote
You have a good point, MCS, who can predict when a person goes bad? However, some Men of the Year were chosen after they went bad. Osama Bin Laden was nominated...post 9/11. Luckily, they wised up, and chose not to give him that honor. -- Submitted By: (Robert) on March 21, 2010, 9:56 am - (-1 votes) - Login to Vote
OK people, the Man of the Year choices were made when they thought these were good people. Hindsight is 20-20. -- Submitted By: (MCS) on March 20, 2010, 9:48 pm - (-1 votes) - Login to Vote
