TV Shows - Arrested Development

Arrested Development is an American television sitcom created by Mitchell Hurwitz for the Fox Broadcasting Company. The show is centered around the Bluths, a formerly wealthy, habitually dysfunctional family and is presented in a pseudo-documentary format, incorporating hand-held camera work, narration, archival photos, and historical footage. Ron Howard is an executive producer and the uncredited narrator. Although set in Newport Beach and Balboa Island, California, Arrested Development was primarily filmed around Culver City and Marina del Rey. Three seasons of the show were produced and aired between 2003 and 2006.

1 I give season 4 an 8 out of 10. In my opinion, it's not up to the same standards as the first two seasons and probably about par with season 3. I'm not a big fan of the single character centric story lines. Arrested Development was always a show that was the sum is greater than the parts. The humor was at its best when the characters bounced their zanyness off each other. Also, the pacing is much slower at 30+ minutes an episode. The fast paced 22 minute format fit this humor much better. I also got a bit annoyed by Ron Howard showing up on the screen every few minutes. We get it Ron, you are such a witty creative guy. Still, there was a lot of the humor and creativity you expect with AD, so I will say an 8 out of 10, though I wonder if it would have been better for them to end it when they did. -- Submitted By: (kingbk) on June 3, 2013, 7:02 pm - (2 votes) - Login to Vote
2 Sure Season 4 can count. Though I really enjoyed season 4. I didn't really understand what people meant by darker tone until I saw the final episode. I felt the finale was designed as a cliffhanger, not a dark ending. Though I could understand if people object to a series with a shaky future ending a season like that. -- Submitted By: (Travoltron) on June 2, 2013, 10:37 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
3 Never boned. Question for discussion: does the Netflix season (Season 4) get counted here? Given some of the reviews, I could imagine that a sizable contingent of viewers might felt that it Boned The Fish during Season 4, as the tone was darker and the plotting and pacing changed, and the inclusion of some new actors to play younger versions of existing characters (Kristen Wiig, Seth Rogen, Max Winkler) is sure to be controversial. Ironically the exact moment that perhaps was closest to boning in Season 4, IMHO, involves some of the scenes with Max Winkler playing a younger version of his father\'s character (Barry Zuckerkorn). -- Submitted By: () on May 28, 2013, 9:44 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote

5 Never boned, though season 3 was borderline boning with the super silly story lines even by AD standards (Rita, Wee Britain, etc.), but it still was more entertaining than annoying. This show was either loved or hated by people (as you can see from the voting tallies). The people who love it LOVE it (though it's a small group), but unfortunately more people hated it and that's why it never made it past three seasons on FOX. -- Submitted By: (kingbk) on March 2, 2011, 5:07 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote

7 Just slightly ahead of its time and badly mistreated on the FOX network (how is Fox so bad at picking winners and so good at boning awesome shows?) Awesome writing, awesome performances, and great ideas. -- Submitted By: (SamuraiPanda201) on August 24, 2009, 1:41 pm - (2 votes) - Login to Vote
