Smokey and The Bandit 2 is when this boned. Instead of the good times we got in the first movie, we got a down and out Bandit, now on the outs with Sally Field who's ready to marry Sheriff Justice's son. Burt spends the entire film either bickering with Sally or trying to win her back after alienating her. In the end we're left not knowing if they met the challenge or not, but that isn't important because Bandit is a new man now (read: the kind of man Sally's character wants him to be). Total lame "a very special" concept that turned a fun original film into a sappy sequel, complete with a stereotypical Italian immigrant veterinarian (Dom Deluise who was wasted in this movie) taking care of the elephant they're transporting (BONE!). This franchise didn't have to wait for Burt Reynolds to leave to bone. I think its boning is one of the reasons he didn't want to be involved after this. -- Submitted By: (ParkerTillman) on July 30, 2012, 3:30 pm - (1 votes)

#2 was ok but unecessary, but #3 was a disaster. The real kicker is that the original script for the third movie was to have Jackie Gleason playing both roles as the bandit and as the cop chasing him. -- Submitted By: (John63btf) on November 27, 2011, 11:41 am - (0 votes)

The first movie was great. It is an American classic that every American should see. Though it was somewhat open to a sequel, a masterpiece like this should not be tampered with. The sequels were horrendous. -- Submitted By: (MCS) on September 16, 2009, 4:28 pm - (2 votes)
