The Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, also known as ACORN, identifies itself as a non-partisan organization that advocates low- and middle-income families. ACORN's priorities have included better housing and wages for the poor, more community development investment from banks and governments, better public schools, and other social justice issues. They also push for educational reform. Despite calling themselves non-partisan, they endorsed Democratic candidate Barack Obama in 2008. There were allegations against ACORN over voter registration fraud in the 2008 Presidential election between Barack Obama and John McCain. However, according to Newsweek and Factcheck.org, the claims were exaggerated and inaccurate.
