Celebrities - Ted Kennedy

Born February 22, 1932, Edward Moore "Ted" Kennedy was a United States Senator from Massachusetts, and a Democrat. For many years he was the most prominent living member of the Kennedy family. He was the son of Joseph P. Kennedy Sr. and Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy, and the youngest of their nine children. His best-known speeches were his eulogy for his brother Robert in 1968 and his 1980 Democratic National Convention rallying cry for American liberalism. He was nicknamed "The Lion of the Senate". In June 1951, he enlisted in the United States Army, and was discharged in March 1953 as a private first class. In 1956, he enrolled in the University of Virginia School of Law. He married Joan Bennett Kennedy in 1958. They had three children: Kara Anne Kennedy, Edward M. Kennedy, Jr., and Patrick J. Kennedy. In 1969, he was involved in what is known as the Chappaquiddick incident, in which the campaign worker Mary Jo Kopechne lost her life when Kennedy's car fell into a tidal channel on Chappaquiddick Island, Massachusetts. He left the scene of the accident and it became a national scandal. Ted Kennedy and Joan Bennett Kennedy divorced in 1982. He married again in 1992, this time to Victoria Reggie Kennedy. In May 2008, he was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor, and on August 25, 2009, he lost the battle against the terminal condition. He was 77 years old.

1 200 votes and only 1 other comment? Looks like this was another topic that fell victim of vote stuffing (not to mention that the "never boned" option is gone). -- Submitted By: (cartooner) on October 27, 2010, 10:33 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
2 If it wasn't for the face Teddy had friends in high places, Chappaquiddick would've ruined him, that's for sure. I still would rather go hunting with Dick Cheney than go for a drive with Ted Kennedy. -- Submitted By: (BigAl) on October 27, 2010, 8:35 am - (4 votes) - Login to Vote
