Massively multiplayer online role-playing game (commonly abbreviated MMORPG) is a genre of computer role-playing games in which a very large number of players interact with one another within a virtual game world. As in all RPGs, players assume the role of a fictional character (often in a fantasy world), and take control over many of that character's actions. MMORPGs are distinguished from single-player or small multi-player RPGs by the number of players, and by the game's persistent world, usually hosted by the game's publisher, which continues to exist and evolve while the player is away from the game.

I am proud to be one of the few that have never let the likes of WoW corrupt my mind. I don't see the appeal in MMOs in general. I don't like games that don't ever end or in particular cases like WoW. Not worth my time, not worth my money either. Just not worth it. I may have devoted hours into other games like Minecraft, but I'm not so much to be chained to a game where life outside has devoid meaning to me. -- Submitted By: (Infyrin) on January 10, 2014, 5:54 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
grinding, grinding, grinding and grinding... this is all mmorpg are about, seriously. but i'm still playing it. helping each other defeat computer can be fun sometime though am not really into pvp. each game can be good or bad depend on the guild u are joining too. -- Submitted By: (caim) on May 24, 2012, 1:41 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
http://www.cracked.com/article_18461_5-creepy-ways-video-games-are-trying-to-get-you-addicted.html An interesting article about that sort of thing. I know cracked is a comedy website. However, they do have a lot of good article and this one is no exception. -- Submitted By: (ExplodingConsole) on August 2, 2011, 1:21 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
See? SEE?! That's exactly what I was talking about. Hopefully wilddrawfour realized what was happening and got out while he could. And the sad part is, if you're not online at least as much as those people, they consider YOU the loser. Not to mention there's no way to "compete" with them if you're not making it your life's ambition like they are--literally. -- Submitted By: (DolFan316) on August 1, 2011, 11:33 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
I played World of Warcraft and Vanguard Saga of Heroes. I find them so addictive that they interfere with life outside of game time. Anybody else have a similar experience? I was gaming 8-14 hours per day and didn't even want to brush my teeth when I got up in the morning. -- Submitted By: (wilddrawfour) on August 1, 2011, 9:05 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
I made a brief foray into the world of MMORPGs about a decade ago, and I was so horrified I'm never going back. Not just the griefers but people who define their self-identity by how many levels they can rack up, and the same people would be online literally no matter what time of day or night I was, making me wonder if they had jobs or kids or even left the house to feed themselves. -- Submitted By: (DolFan316) on August 1, 2011, 6:57 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Agreed. Only one I play is Football Manager Live, and I only play it because the mods on there make sure no greifer causes any trouble. -- Submitted By: (PYLrulz) on August 9, 2010, 10:23 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Griefers are the main reason why I don't get into this genre of gaming. I think the South Park episode "Make Love, Not Warcraft" said it the best regarding why I'm not into MMORPG's. -- Submitted By: (BigAl) on August 9, 2010, 5:34 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
