Music Groups - Go-Go's, The
The Go-Gos are an all-female Grammy Award nominated American pop/new wave band formed in 1978. They consisted of Belinda Carlisle, Jane Wiedlin, Charlotte Caffey, Kathy Valentine and Gina Schock. They made rock history as the first all-woman band that both wrote their own songs and played their own instruments to top the Billboard album charts.

Swelled head syndrome. They boned when Belinda Carlisle thought she was going to make it on her own and ditched the band. She had a few hits and then the novelty wore off. Never boned, IMO. The Go-go's were among the first "all-girl" bands and one of the few to enjoy any success in the U.S. They've gone through the same ups and downs that any other band has (male or female) and helped pave the way for bands like The Bangles and Vixen; who knows, maybe even The Dixie Chicks (whether you like 'em or not :) ).
