I'm sure you guys have already seen the previews but we seem to have another prequel on our hands. Oz: The Great and Powerful. How the Wizard arrived in Oz and became the ruler. I'm intrigued but think i'll have to proceed with caution. -- Submitted By: (Jp) on October 9, 2012, 9:57 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
Will the remake play along with Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of The Moon" and show a guy hanging himself too? If not....BONED! -- Submitted By: (ParkerTillman) on July 31, 2012, 3:05 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
I heard somewhere that they are planning to make 5 Oz films between 2012 and 2014. -- Submitted By: (cartooner) on November 21, 2011, 4:48 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Tweet from the Cowardly Lion: #CowardlyFelineofOZ@Twitter: We dont really know the Witch of the East's side of the story, do we really know if she attacked Munchkinland? #CowardlyFelineofOZ@Twitter: There is no way a woman on a broom could have caused all of that destruction on the munchkins- it's wat the emerald city tells us... -- Submitted By: (Chubby Rain) on May 8, 2011, 9:36 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
If Travoltron's is the best comment here, I say that Soggy's comment is a close second. -- Submitted By: (cartooner) on May 7, 2011, 12:06 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Another vote for Travoltron. But this would all be cleared up if the Wizard would release those photos of the Wicked Witch's corpse. -- Submitted By: (Soggy9000) on May 7, 2011, 7:51 am - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
I second that nomination. -- Submitted By: (Robert) on May 6, 2011, 2:01 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
Travoltron, comment of the year! I don't think we do Bone the Fish awards yet, but if we ever do, for 2011 comment of the year, I think you would win in a landslide. Some of my lefty friends I defriended on Facebook thanks to their comments a few days ago on this matter. I could tolerate some of their kooky, whiny beliefs beforehand, but this was over the line for me. Not all my lefty friends thankfully were this way... many were happy about the outcome. -- Submitted By: (kingbk) on May 5, 2011, 3:40 pm - (2 votes) - Login to Vote
LOL @ Travoltron's comment! :) -- Submitted By: (Robert) on May 5, 2011, 12:49 pm - (2 votes) - Login to Vote
Travoltron- thanks for the best quote of the year, Im going to put that on facebook, properly attributed of course! On another Oz note- I hate slot machines, but I was able to play the Wizard of Oz slot machine earlier this year- and frankly it was an amazing experience. If you are at a casino and like this movie- play it! -- Submitted By: (Chubby Rain) on May 5, 2011, 4:23 am - (3 votes) - Login to Vote
Those Munchkins were wrong to rejoice in the death of the Wicked Witch of the East. And how do we know the Witch is really dead? We're just supposed to take the word of one guy that she's "really, truly dead"? What are this man's credentials? And I hope her crushed remains were disposed of in according to Wiccan custom. -- Submitted By: (Travoltron) on May 4, 2011, 1:59 pm - (12 votes) - Login to Vote
Everybody needs to remember that the 1939 version of The Wizard of Oz is a remake of several silent movies. -- Submitted By: (quimbyt) on January 9, 2011, 10:29 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Maybe even just a twist on the adaptation, such as the Motown version "The Wiz". At least that one tried to be something different. If Burton is at the helm, then........ we all know what it will be like. -- Submitted By: (johnnydough) on November 25, 2010, 3:52 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
If they do another one, they should do it completely different than the 1939 one. Base it more closely on the books. Maybe even do it all in that 3D CGI that people seem to love so much, or a CG-live hybrid. But instead, I hear they've chosen to just remake the 1939 version. -- Submitted By: (Travoltron) on November 23, 2010, 4:12 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
I've never understood the whole concept of 'remaking a classic'. Isn't a classic by definition a work that's perfect in and of itself? Therefore, how can you really 'remake' it without butchery? It's a little bit like saying you're going to 'rewrite' Shakespeare. Now mind you, I'm hardly placing the original 'Wizard of Oz' in the same category with The Bard of Avon--but the basic idea holds the same, that any work that is in itself perfect within its genre can't be 're-made' without doing damage to the work and its original ideas. -- Submitted By: (elainewood) on November 19, 2010, 6:01 am - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
I don't mind them doing remakes of the classics, its just when they decide to butcher them. Sometimes, it could end up being just as good, but just as many times, if not more, you get someone who just wants to remake a classic just to throw their personal opinions in, put their twist in it in that, while they might be geniuses, they could do something to it that just makes it crap. If they are remaking Wizard of Oz, I will give it a shot, but I wouldn't have high hopes for it. -- Submitted By: (PYLrulz) on November 18, 2010, 2:36 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
It goes to show Hollywood is seriously lacking in creativity - they take a beloved classic and remake (read: ruin) it. -- Submitted By: (BigAl) on November 18, 2010, 1:40 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Sigh...they just don't leave the classics alone, do they? -- Submitted By: (Robert) on November 17, 2010, 8:48 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote

In terms of an actual sequel instead of remake, I think there was something called "Return to Oz" back in the 80's starring Fairuza Balk which featured a talking rock. Yep, even "The Wiz" proved to be more memorable! -- Submitted By: (Pelirojo) on October 18, 2010, 8:23 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
