Movie Series - Clerks/"View Askewniverse" series

Clerks is a 1994 American comedy film written and directed by Kevin Smith, who also appears in the film as Silent Bob. Starring Brian O'Halloran as Dante Hicks and Jeff Anderson as Randal Graves, it presents a day in the lives of two store clerks and their acquaintances. Clerks was the first of Smith's "View Askewniverse" films. It introduces several characters, notably Jay and Silent Bob, who reappear in his later works. Clerks II was the 2006 sequel to Clerks, but when it comes to the "View Askewniverse" series, it is not the first sequel. That honor goes to Mallrats, which was released in 1995. It was followed by the 1997 romantic comedy Chasing Amy, the 1999 adventure-comedy-fantasy film Dogma, and the 2001 film Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.

1 With the exception of Dogma, I liked this franchise. It was something fresh. Ordinary people doing things that often were plausible. -- Submitted By: (MCS) on June 26, 2010, 6:05 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
2 'Clerks' was brilliant, 'Mallrats' was mediocre, 'Chasing Amy' was OK, 'Dogma' sucked, and 'Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back' was great. However, one small problem remains... If you remove the word 'fuck' from the English language, Kevin Smith's entire body of work is reduced to absolutely nothing. -- Submitted By: (BrianBuck) on December 3, 2009, 7:41 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
