Celebrities - Elvis Presley

Elvis Aaron Presley (January 8, 1935 to August 16, 1977; middle name sometimes written Aron)a was an American singer, actor, and musician. A cultural icon, he is commonly known simply as "Elvis", and is also sometimes referred to as "The King of Rock 'n' Roll" or "The King". In 1954, Presley began his career as one of the first performers of rockabilly, an uptempo fusion of country and rhythm and blues with a strong back beat. His novel versions of existing songs, mixing "black" and "white" sounds, made him popular, and controversial, as did his uninhibited stage and television performances. He recorded songs in the rock and roll genre, with tracks like "Hound Dog" and "Jailhouse Rock" later embodying the style. Presley had a versatile voice and had unusually wide success encompassing other genres, including gospel, blues, ballads and pop. To date, he has been inducted into four music halls of fame. In the 1960s, Presley made the majority of his 31 movies, mainly poorly reviewed, but financially successful, musicals. In 1968, he returned to live music in a television special, and performed across the U.S., notably in Las Vegas. Throughout his career, he set records for concert attendance, television ratings and recordings sales. He is one of the bestselling and most influential artists in the history of music. Health problems, drug dependency and other factors led to his death at age 42.

I however can't think of even Lil' Wayne song that charted..i can think of several Elvis songs, though.. When it comes down to it, you really can't compare the two. -- Submitted By: (stryker73) on September 29, 2012, 9:53 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
I've just learned that horrible rapper Lil Wayne has more chart entries on the Billboard Hot 100 than Elvis. -- Submitted By: () on September 27, 2012, 6:35 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
If ever the "death" category applied to a celebrity, this is it. When Elvis died of a "respiratory ailment", but then slowly but surely we find out he slowly committed suicide over a period of years, that was a major fish boning. Elvis always purported to stand for quite the opposite of what he actually was, and even trashed The Beatles in a letter to Nixon. Whether that's because a doctor got him hooked I don't know. Never been a fan of blaming "doctors" for one's addictions. The 1-900 "Elvis is alive" BS that went around in the 1980s (including a TV special hosted by Bill Bixby) were major boning moments too, that wouldn't have existed without "death". -- Submitted By: (ParkerTillman) on July 16, 2012, 11:41 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
The king didn't bone. Yes he made a string of cheesy movies, no he didn't write his songs, yes he got hooked on drugs and got fat, but so what? When Elvis walked out on stage you knew it. Now shut up and have a fried peanut butter and nanner sandwich before you get a karate kick upside your head! -- Submitted By: (JoeBagODonuts) on March 2, 2012, 4:43 pm - (5 votes) - Login to Vote
Okay this whole Scientology thing is going a little overboard... I hate the cult and what it involves, but anyways... I think Elvis boned when he went from being Mr. Graceland to Mr. Las Vegas. That's when he got fat, developed a love for fried chicken, and got into drugs. -- Submitted By: (kingbk) on October 22, 2010, 11:44 am - (3 votes) - Login to Vote
Yes you are funding $cientology when you buy Elvis related merchandise. His brainwashed widow and vapid child are two of the $cilon's largest money making drones. On taht note, for years I heard that the whole Lisa marie/ Michael Jackson Sham wedding was a stunt by the Co$ to keep $cilon Michael Jackson looking as though he wasnt a pedophile to keep him out of harms way, and keep his money flowing into their coffers, once I heard that, the fake marriage made alot of sense, and seemed to go along with $cilon protocol of fake marriages for gay men (Cruise, Travolta) with other $cilon celebrities and to also keep an eye on members to keep them in line (see the girl fro Mad Men divorcing her non $cilon Husband and Katie Holmes for more details) -- Submitted By: (Chubby Rain) on October 22, 2010, 3:32 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
I've been wondering this for a while. Since Priscilla and Lisa Marie are Scientologists, does that mean buying his music or merchandise is funding the Co$? -- Submitted By: (Travoltron) on October 21, 2010, 11:15 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
Elvis was mostly before my time - he died when I was a year old. From what I've heard and read about him - he's clearly better than those who pollute the airwaves these days. -- Submitted By: (BigAl) on August 30, 2010, 7:24 am - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
If you were born during Elvis' lifetime, you had to hear about him constantly. He was on TV, constantly written about in magazines, there were always advertisements for his albums everywhere, other musicans always cited him as an influence...blah, blah, blah. I mean, it was Elvis, Elvis, ELVIS...ad nauseum. That's why Ricky Nelson was so much cooler. He was famous without wearing out his welcome. -- Submitted By: (Stephanie) on September 21, 2009, 11:57 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
I've lived an hour or less away from Memphis for nearly my entire life and have never understood the big deal about Elvis. Okay, I get why he was famous back in his youth (although he was never that good looking IMO) but to have this level of slavish devotion over 30 years after his death from being a fat drugged up slob??? It's a complete mystery to me. Even if he DID have charisma all he really did was sing a few decent songs in the 50s and make some lame movies in the 60s. I just don't get the hype. My theory is that Elvis is the most famous person who ever came out of Memphis by far and since the city has a HUGE inferiority complex it clings to him like Katie Holmes to Tom Cruise and always will. -- Submitted By: (DolFan316) on June 10, 2009, 1:48 am - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
Top 10 reasons Elvis didn't bone: 10. Fans still visit Graceland in droves over 30 years after his death. 9. Elvis, Aloha From Hawaii 8. Elvis Presley movies from the 60's 7. Received an honorary federal agent badge from Richard Nixon 6. Fried peanut butter and naner sandwiches 5. The White Jumpsuit 4. Sold over 1 Billion records, behind only the Beatles 3. Had 151 singles in the top 100, and 104 top 40 hits, both more than anyone on the planet. 2. Black belt in Karate and would give you a Karate chop if you said he boned the fish 1. The Memphis Mafia, and they of course would make you disappear if you implied he boned the fish -- Submitted By: (JoeBagODonuts) on May 19, 2009, 6:30 pm - (-1 votes) - Login to Vote
Sorry, but since this is the BoneTheFish Site and NOT an Elvis Presley Worship Site, I'm going to have to be honest and say that I believe Elvis Boned then got De-Boned. How? Growing up in the South in the 1970's, I can testify that for the last 5+ years of his life, he was considered a has-been and a loser who'd made some cool songs and a few so-so movies WAY back when but, by and large, was believed to have had his best days behind him as he seemed to be doomed to be zooming towards middleaged mediocrity while holed up in Graceland- popping out every so often to do rehashes of his songs in Vegas. Oh, yeah, every so often there was a story of some deluded fan who'd take out marriage licenses and claim he was going to marry them but, surprise, he'd not show up because he'd never heard of them. And, even to admit to being a fan at that time was to invite folks to mock you as a yahoo and loser. But then, it happened! August, 1977- The King Left The Building for the Last Time! Suddenly, everyone remembered how talented he was! Suddenly, he was transformed into this eternally young superstar who could do no wrong! Now, folks were PROUD to be his fans,Graceland became a New Mecca and A Cult Was Born- the likes of which I'd never seen before and would never see again until Princess Diana's death 20 years later! Even as stories of his shadow side became public knowledge, they seemed to only enhance rather than dim the ardor for All Things Elvis! And, of course, there came all The Post-August,1977 Sightings eagerly printed by tabloids that the many fans happily accepted as proof that the King was alive! As one of the categories says, only with Lisa Marie's short-lived marriage to Michael Jackson did many of them realize that Elvis was no longer alive. One can be sure that if Elvis was anywhere on this planet with a breath left in him, EVERYONE would have heard his outrage over that union -even if it may not have been for the 'right' reasons! The fans even managed to get the US Postal Service to quit being so stodgy and stuffy with its old rules for stamps and have Elvis stamps issued that sold faster than hotcakes. The US Postal Service learned a major lesson from that and stamp subjects have never been the same since! When did he originally bone? I'd say when he signed up with Colonel Tom Parker who Pat'Mr. Haney' Buttram said had run a dancing chicken carney stand using an electrified grid! One might say this proved somewhat prophetic for how he may have treated Elvis. Of course, it didn't help that many of his family and so-called friends were eagerly willing to sponge off him for so many years! The tragedy is that Elvis DID have phenomenal talent and could have done so much more had he dumped/kept out so many users. And spending decades not being able to set foot out of a door without screaming 'fans' ambushing him can't have helped anything! So, now visiting Memphis and seeing everyone lined up around Graceland and even crossing themselves in front of his grave as though he was an Apostle, it's easy for me to see that Elvis DeBoned when he was able to go to the next world AWAY from all the exploiters, users and fans- and I'd like to think has been having a good laugh ever since where ever he is! -- Submitted By: () on April 23, 2009, 10:06 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
I'm not old enough to remember him very well. but I do like his music, especially the songs "Kentucky Rain" and "Hound dog". oh and I really like "Suspicious minds" too. I don't think he ever BTF! -- Submitted By: (Riley2009) on April 21, 2009, 12:08 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
How dare ANYONE imply that the King boned the fish. Elvis was and still is the definition of cool. Just watch one of his many movies. He always won the fight, drove the nice car, won the race, and got the girl and whenever the occasion arose that a song was in order his band knew to start up the music. There's a reason they call him the King. -- Submitted By: (JoeBagODonuts) on April 20, 2009, 5:16 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
