Movie Series - Tron

from wikipedia: Tron is a 1982 American science fiction film by Walt Disney Pictures. It stars Jeff Bridges as Kevin Flynn (and his program counterpart inside the electronic world, Clu), Bruce Boxleitner as Tron and his User Alan Bradley, Cindy Morgan as Yori and Dr. Lora Baines, and Dan Shor as Ram. David Warner plays all three main antagonists: the program Sark, his User Ed Dillinger, and the voice of the Master Control Program. It was written and directed by Steven Lisberger. Tron has a distinctive visual style, as it was one of the first films from a major studio to use computer graphics extensively. There may be a sequel or "Reboot" in the works for the film.

So far, the only bashing I heard of the sequel came from my newspaper's reviewer, who called it boring. He also said the original was boring, too... :P. Enough people have convinced that the sequel's good, so I'll wait for it to go on DVD. -- Submitted By: (Robert) on March 14, 2011, 6:24 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote

You can't blame us for being apprehensive about sequels: most sequels end up sucking. Some sequels, however, are awesome. For example, Terminator 2. Since technology has improved since Tron was first released, the effects could be mindblowing. Well, only time shall tell, and until then, I'm crossing my fingers that the legacy doesn't bone. And here's hoping they NEVER remake Tron or give it the "E.T. 20th Anniversary" treatment. -- Submitted By: (Robert) on November 3, 2010, 12:17 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Hey some remakes are better than the original- "The Thing" comes to mind. Heres hoping that TRON LEGACY doesnt let us down! -- Submitted By: (Chubby Rain) on November 3, 2010, 5:01 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
It's a sequel, not a remake, isn't it? I'm OK with sequels, in theory anyways. A sequel can expand upon, embrace, and enhance the original film if done right. (Think Empire Strikes Back, Aliens, Terminator 2.) Remakes/Reboots want you to remember some old movie you liked, but not too much, because they're going to make it "better" (which is actually worse). -- Submitted By: (Travoltron) on November 2, 2010, 1:42 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
I think they should have left it alone, but at least the preview looks good. There are many reasons there's a time limit when it comes to making sequels: the original actors get old, the original fans get old, the original fans may see the sequel as an insult to the original, the target audience may be too young to have seen the movie (or they saw it but did not appreciate it), etc. -- Submitted By: (Robert) on November 2, 2010, 1:13 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Two notes- Tron 2010 is a sequel, not a remake. And as to waiting 30 years to make a sequel, I think that is actually quite interesting to see how this works out (what happened since 1981?), as opposed to cranking out sequels to capitalize on temporary popularity (see Avatar). Im a huge TRON fan, so I'll be hard on this film if it is not good. More from me in Decemeber on whether this boned the fish. -- Submitted By: (Chubby Rain) on November 2, 2010, 3:34 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
To me it doesn't matter. I'm tired of remakes. Even if this particular remake IS good, all that5 means is that they could've spent the same time and effort on an original movie concept for a change. -- Submitted By: (DolFan316) on November 1, 2010, 7:07 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
I, too, hope the clip is not misleading. Usually, if almost 30 years pass and then they decide it's time for a sequel, it's a really bad sign. -- Submitted By: (Robert) on October 29, 2010, 11:44 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
All I am saying is if this bones the fish, this clip is misleading as hell- new TRON- WOW. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SPFpcKm0B7U&feature=player_embedded#! -- Submitted By: (Chubby Rain) on October 28, 2010, 7:43 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
