sharp, Wait! Are you saying that Maher who said those who held sharp objects against defenseless womens throats for the purpose of taking over airplanes to murder thousands of innocent men, women and children were courageous has said that a teen who put together a clock deserved to be arrested for being a Muslim ? Huh ? -- Submitted By: (Pelirojo) on October 6, 2015, 9:59 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
sharp143 ... the kid did NOT make a digital clock. He took an existing clock apart and reassembled it into something that could have construed as suspicious. -- Submitted By: (JustLooking) on October 5, 2015, 11:32 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
I love me some Bill Maher. I stood by him when he was canned from Politically Incorrect and when the right-wing fundies went nuts over Religiosity. I applauded him when he took on the 911 deniers (they say the US government destroyed the towers) and the climate change deniers who refuse to believe science. I parted ways with Mr. Maher however when he recently came out as an Islamaphobe. He spends a significant amount of every show now slamming Islam and saying its followers are all evil and need to go away and/or die. He justified the treatment of the 14-year old Texas student who was jailed for making a digital clock. He said the teacher was completely right in having the child arrested because he was a Muslim. That is so disgusting I cannot even begin to justify it. Bill Maher, buddy, FU! -- Submitted By: (sharp143) on October 4, 2015, 3:26 pm - (-2 votes) - Login to Vote
What do you mean, a person can't be evil if they're dumb? That never stopped Bush from trying to take over the world! :) Comparing Bill Maher's treachery to Jane Fonda's is like comparing a splinter in the finger to being impaled by a wooden beam. Wait...here's a bigot who belittles people with opposing viewpoints. -- Submitted By: (Robert) on June 4, 2011, 10:17 pm - (2 votes) - Login to Vote
I think Sean Penn is approaching Hanoi Jane territory. I wasn't around for 'Nam, so I'll have to defer to Soggy's judgment on this one. Bill Maher on the other hand is just a bitter failed stand-up comic. A good stand up comic knows timing; he would know that saying, "Terrorists: brave; Us: Cowards" a mere six days after 9-freakin'-11 is tactless. -- Submitted By: (Travoltron) on June 3, 2011, 8:10 pm - (2 votes) - Login to Vote
Calling him the Jane Fonda of the Iraq War is elevating him waaaayyyyy beyond his true propaganda-tool value. Nobody, and I mean NOBODY, among today's American antiwar celeb crowd can even remotely be compared to Hanoi Jane circa 1972, either in attitude or behavior. And for the record, Hitler was not a "great" artist. At best he had modest talent which might have grown had he not taken a different path in 1914. -- Submitted By: (Soggy9000) on June 3, 2011, 1:26 pm - (2 votes) - Login to Vote
I understand giving the devil his due. Though Hitler was a great artist, it doesn't excuse that he was an evil man who killed millions. It's one thing if Bill Maher simply said the hijackers committing suicide wasn't cowardly...but he turns around and calls the American soldiers cowards! He has no respect at all for the very people who risk their lives so he can spew poison against them and various other people (Sarah Palin, etc.) while standing up for the people trying to take his freedoms--and his very life--away from him. It's not hard to see why he's called the "Jane Fonda of the Iraq War". -- Submitted By: (Robert) on June 2, 2011, 12:48 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Naww, he's too dumb to be evil. Most truly evil people have good-sized IQs; I haven't seen a whole lot of evidence that his is above average. -- Submitted By: (Soggy9000) on June 2, 2011, 12:40 pm - (3 votes) - Login to Vote
Bill Maher is one of the most evil people on the planet. -- Submitted By: (DolFan316) on June 1, 2011, 7:57 pm - (2 votes) - Login to Vote
I think Maher's comment about the hijackers was a little more nuanced than it's been credited with being. "Courageous" need not equate to "good". Hitler was a courageous soldier in World War 1. Howard Unruh, who murdered 13 people in 12 minutes in New Jersey in 1949, was a courageous soldier in World War 2. Benedict Arnold had considerable personal courage during the Revolution, prior to his decision to commit treason. Maher wasn't saying the hijackers were good guys, only that it takes a certain amount of balls to do what they did. I don't happen to agree with him on that, as their belief in their impending martyrdom (with all its attendant sexual delights) amounted to a sort of self-delusion that replaced any conventional sense of courage as we recognize it - but I don't fault Maher for seeing things differently. I do agree with most of you, however, that he is an utterly obnoxious asshole. -- Submitted By: (Soggy9000) on May 31, 2011, 8:02 pm - (2 votes) - Login to Vote

From his show getting axed when he made those comments about the terrorists after 9/11, to calling Sarah Palin a c**t and everything in between, this . . . creature, because I refuse to call him a man . . . has a long and storied tradition of bottom feeding. I hope one day he says the wrong thing to someone's face and gets his nose broken like Geraldo. -- Submitted By: (Replicant10k) on May 31, 2011, 11:46 am - (4 votes) - Login to Vote
Bill Maher praised the 9/11 hijackers for being courageous. Yet he calls American troops cowards (even though they know fully well they're extremely likely to die in what they're doing). And, Bill Maher doesn't call the firefighters who responded to the Twin Tower attacks "courageous", even though they (the firefighters) knew fighting the blaze and rescuing the innocent victims of the horrific attack could prove fatal. Still think Bill "Americans are cowards, but I love Osama and his brave, brave friends" Maher speaks the truth? -- Submitted By: (Robert) on September 21, 2009, 12:31 pm - (2 votes) - Login to Vote
He simply speaks the truth! What he says is funny, and makes you think! And to say that Bill Maher is a bigot... he is an equal oportunity joker, he'll make fun of anyone, over anything, and that makes it great! -- Submitted By: (rwatkinson) on September 17, 2009, 7:55 pm - (-4 votes) - Login to Vote
Another example of a left-leaning celebrity trying to use meanspirited "comedy" to ridicule others of a different political persuasion. In a group, like he was on the ironically-titled "Politically-Incorrect," Maher could be kept on a leash (although I am still shaking my head about his comments that Aaron Sorkin, who was busted at an airport with hallucinogenic mushrooms, marijuana, and crack cocaine, was "too intelligent" to be jailed). Unfettered, Maher runs about like a rabid pit bull and has become equally cruel and brilliant. But, his mean side overshadows any laughs or enlightenment one would get from his often interesting arguments. -- Submitted By: (GregEichelberger) on July 15, 2009, 5:06 am - (3 votes) - Login to Vote
