Look at Street View on Google Maps regarding some of the areas in this once great city.. Disturbing to say the least -- Submitted By: (stryker73) on August 29, 2014, 9:06 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Inasmuch as I have a couple of good friends from there [who prefer living in my Southeastern city], I don't want to dump on it too badly. However; I'll always think of the lamest hijacker when I think of Detroit. In 1976, this man evidently pulled a weapon on a flight attendent and yelled 'Take this plane to Detroit!'. She replied 'This plane's already GOING to Detroit!' to which he meekly replied 'Oh, good.' and sat down. So many levels of lame to choose from here. 3 I have family that live around the Detroit area (Monroe mainly, but also Ann Arbor and Flint). I remember going through Detroit on my way to Windsor to spend the day years ago (well before the economy tanking and such). Detroit was a dump then, and my family that lives up there will tell you Detroit is a dump now. -- Submitted By: (PYLrulz) on November 29, 2011, 6:07 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Detroit makes Memphis look like a utopia, and that's saying something. -- Submitted By: (DolFan316) on November 29, 2011, 12:25 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Detroit at one point was considered Paris of the Plains. It's taken quite a fall since then. It has a great history in sports, music and the automotive industry, but it's a prime example of what happens when liberal politics are allowed to run amok unchecked. I hope it can bounce back, but I'm not holding my breath. -- Submitted By: (kingbk) on November 28, 2011, 11:54 pm - (2 votes) - Login to Vote
I used to live in Michigan. I've done a lot of traveling across the Nation and around the World. I've walked through slums in Third-World Countries such as Mexico and Brazil, but have yet to crawl back to my Hotel Room and say "I'd rather be in Detroit!" -- Submitted By: () on November 28, 2011, 2:14 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
