Music Groups - Ozzy Osbourne

In 1979, Osbourne was fired from Black Sabbath largely for unreliability due to substance abuse. All the members in the band did drugs, but Osbourne did them to a much greater extent than other members of the band. He was replaced by former Rainbow singer Ronnie James Dio.[8] In the late 1970s, the band Necromandus rehearsed with Ozzy Osbourne and briefly became the first incarnation of his Blizzard of Ozz solo project. The Ozzy Osbourne Band began as The Blizzard of Ozz, formed by Osbourne's new manager and future wife, Sharon Arden. The first line-up of the band featured drummer Lee Kerslake (of Uriah Heep), bassist/lyricist Bob Daisley (of Rainbow and later Uriah Heep), keyboardist Don Airey and guitarist Randy Rhoads (of Quiet Riot). The record company would eventually title the record Blizzard of Ozz credited simply under Osbourne's name. Largely written by Daisley and Rhoads, Osbourne met with considerable success on his first solo effort, the debut collection selling well with heavy metal fans. A second album, Diary of a Madman featured more of Bob Daisley's song writing and guitar work by Randy Rhoads, who was ranked the 85th greatest guitarist of all time by Rolling Stone magazine in 2003

Ozzy Osbourne Comments (You must Login to Comment)

1 Terror- Ozzy's new album in 2010, "Scream" was probably his best effort since "No More Tears" in 1991- so I have to disagree with your comment on lack of new singing. It might actually be about the third "unboning" in his career- "Blizzard of Ozz"- 1981, and "No More Tears"- 1991 being the other musical revitalizations in the catalogue. -- Submitted By: (Chubby Rain) on May 19, 2011, 3:50 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
2 He hasn't sung for a while now, sounds like a mumbling duddering nutter not a mad metal king. -- Submitted By: (terror) on May 18, 2011, 2:23 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
3 It can't be easy to protest that you are the 'Prince of F**king Darkness' while cleaning up dog poo. I love Ozzy and I love that he has never lost his accent, but putting your life on TV really kills the mystery and glamour stone dead. -- Submitted By: (Mattersmasher) on May 30, 2010, 7:14 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
4 Notice who wasnt there after Ozzmosis- Zakk Wylde. He was what made Ozzy's later solo work awesome. The Black Label Society songs where Ozzy guest sings the lead vocals with Zakk are what the albums post "NO More Tears" SHOULD HAVE BEEN!!! -- Submitted By: (Chubby Rain) on December 2, 2009, 10:50 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
5 I might not really blame Ozzy whoring himself out, as I think thats more Sharon induced than anything. Just seems like from Ozzmosis onwards, the stuff he has been putting out has not been any good, and he has not been what he was -- Submitted By: (PYLrulz) on December 2, 2009, 6:59 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
6 when Ozzy escaped from the nursing home - it was all downhill since! -- Submitted By: (diezman) on November 18, 2009, 10:30 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
7 It really amazes me how uncool Ozzy has become, I just saw him in a really lame cel phone ad the other day. Remember when he was mysterious, evil and made great music? -- Submitted By: (Chubby Rain) on July 31, 2009, 1:18 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
8 the Osbournes show was bad enough, but worse was the reissue/remaking of 'Blizzard' and 'Diary' with the bass and drum parts re-recorded. Done purely to stick it to Bob Daisley and Lee Kerslake, who were strung along by SHARON! for many years over credit/royalties. When they sued, she took them off the albums. By then it was all bone and no fish! -- Submitted By: (ronster500) on July 31, 2009, 12:03 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
9 Anyone else remember the "No More Tours" tour? Turns out Ozzy really should've stopped touring after that. -- Submitted By: (DolFan316) on July 17, 2009, 6:06 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
10 It was when he got a reality show. It was the beginning of Ozzy whoring himself, and the beginning of these endless "reality" shows where they just follow people around. -- Submitted By: (McT) on May 6, 2009, 8:09 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
11 Ozzy really BTF after the incredible "No More Tears" Era. The mystique, the quality of the singles and albums have all been signifigantly downhill from there. However this may be a matter of pre internet era, his family was younger and not fame hounds and also musically NMT was the apex of Metal, 80's glam scene, and peak musical performances- it was a true metal classic- it would be hard to match or exceed that. Of course this is Ozzy who has had several "Peaks" in his career- Black Sabbath VOl. 4, Blizzard of Ozz etc. We've been spoiled over the years! -- Submitted By: (Chubby Rain) on April 8, 2009, 4:38 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
