Simply put, the finest melodic death/prog metal band on this or any other planet. Sweden's Opeth has crafted nine incredible albums since its formation in the early '90s, and it shows no signs of faltering. Frontman Mikael Akerfeldt is a guitarist/songwriter/vocalist of sublime genius.

I totally disagree about Opeth having ever come anywhere close to becoming "stale". And if it had, Ghost Reveries would be pretty poor evidence of it, as it's a magnificent album.
