Flo is an American sitcom which aired on CBS from 1980 to 1981. The series is a spin-off for Polly Holliday, whose portrayal of the sassy and street-smart waitress Florence Jean "Flo" Castleberry on the sitcom Alice initially struck a chord with viewers, but was cancelled at the end of its second season.

Actually, I thought Flo was the only likable character in "Alice" but she was much funnier as a fish out of water than playing a yahoo coming back home! -- Submitted By: (Pelirojo) on March 1, 2011, 7:45 pm - (2 votes)

Take the most obnoxious character from an obnoxious sitcom and spin it off into another sitcom. Who thought this was a good idea? -- Submitted By: (jgf) on October 9, 2010, 1:04 am - (0 votes)

I will add though, this should not be construed as a knock against the talent of Polly Holliday. I've seen other work that she has done and she has very broad range as an actress. -- Submitted By: (Friedrich_Feuerstein) on March 3, 2010, 8:32 pm - (0 votes)

Yes, so the show started out strong in the ratings, and one could argue that it was the time slot change that killed it, but I NEVER thought of the character of Flo, as funny as she was on Alice, as anything more than a supporting character. And I certainly never thought the character was strong enough to carry an entire show. Frankly, I'd think that if the show had really been that good, it certainly would've survived a time change. -- Submitted By: (Friedrich_Feuerstein) on March 3, 2010, 8:29 pm - (0 votes)
