Celebrities - Steven Spielberg

Steven Allan Spielberg (born December 18, 1946) is an American film director, screenwriter, and film producer. In a career spanning over six decades, Spielberg's films have taken up many themes and genres. Spielberg's early science-fiction and adventure films were seen as an archetype of modern Hollywood blockbuster filmmaking. In later years, his films began addressing such issues as the Holocaust, slavery, war and terrorism. Spielberg won the Academy Award for Best Director for Schindler's List (1993) and Saving Private Ryan (1998). Three of Spielberg's films - Jaws (1975), E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982), and Jurassic Park (1993) - achieved box office records, each becoming the highest-grossing film made at the time. To date, the unadjusted gross of all Spielberg-directed films exceeds $8.5 billion worldwide. Forbes puts Spielberg's wealth at $3.0 billion.

1 PYLrulz, Overall, I agree yet I wish that "1941" and "Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull" had never happened. -- Submitted By: (Pelirojo) on January 24, 2012, 1:16 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
2 To produce the movies he has produced, it's almost like a list of the greatest movies of the past 40 years. The guy is a genius, no question about it. Never Boned -- Submitted By: (PYLrulz) on January 21, 2012, 1:59 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
3 He has had relatively little misfires over a five decade career. Even then, they are simply disappointing. With a strong line up of Jaws, Close Encounters of the Third Kind ET, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Schindler's List, Saving Private Ryan........ the fish must have small bones. -- Submitted By: (johnnydough) on September 9, 2010, 4:10 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
4 If you're a fan of movies at all, you have to at least respect Spielberg. I don't like all of his movies, but he has made some classics (Jaws, Indiana Jones, E.T., Jurassic Park, Back to the Future, etc.) and his involvement in TV is pretty remarkable too (Animanics, ER, Band of Brothers, etc.) He's a bit more smug and arrogant than I care for, but if you've reinvented the way movies are made and developed many of the innovations now taken for granted, you have every right to be that way. He hasn't been quite the hit maker he was from the 70s-90s, but he still can pull out some award winning material, so I don't think he has boned the fish. -- Submitted By: (kingbk) on September 8, 2010, 11:48 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
