Warner Music Group is the second largest business group and family of record labels in the recording industry, making it one of the big four record companies. The current incarnation of the company was formed in 2004 when it was spun off from Time Warner, and as a result, Time Warner no longer retains any ownership. Warner Music Group also has a music publishing arm called Warner/Chappell Music, which is currently one of the world's largest music-publishing companies.

Warner owns the copyright to the song, Happy Birthday to You. The copyright expires in 2030. Warner bought the company that owns the rights to the song. -- Submitted By: (Robert) on September 3, 2015, 10:06 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Why they can't block Rebecca Black's Friday song or anything with Justin Bieber in it? They have no problem blocking other songs that doesn't even belong to them, especially the "hard to find" rare songs. -- Submitted By: (SSM) on February 28, 2012, 12:49 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
When it comes to fiercely guarding their property, they're now just as bad (if not worse than) Disney. And what business do they have to claim videos which aren't even their own? At least Disney guards only what's theirs. -- Submitted By: (Robert) on February 24, 2012, 12:46 pm - (2 votes) - Login to Vote
Warner is a far bigger threat to our freedom than all the terrorists currently on the planet combined. And at least as evil. -- Submitted By: (DolFan316) on February 21, 2012, 7:29 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
I've seen them claim videos that had music they didn't even own. -- Submitted By: () on February 20, 2012, 9:32 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
I recently uploaded a video to YouTube and it told me the song in it belonged to some record company (Music Publishing Rights Collecting Society). Thank goodness it wasn't WMG. -- Submitted By: (MacFan95) on January 7, 2011, 5:24 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
It's not just WMG, several companies are doing (or have done) this copyright BS (such as 20th Century Fox, Sony Music Entertainment, and Viacom). Another sad thing is, in September 2009, Youtube and WMG had supposedly made a deal with each other (indicating that they would stop muting and deleting videos) but they're still muting/deleting some videos, and the videos that were muted (that haven't been deleted yet) are still muted. -- Submitted By: (cartooner) on January 7, 2011, 10:58 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
It's 2011 and all the muted videos is still muted, still a sad irony. -- Submitted By: (SSM) on January 6, 2011, 10:46 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
I remember I was trying to find out who sang that song to the Golden Girls theme. I finally find it out and tried to search the long version in Youtube just to find out that these bastards block it. They even block the cover songs sang by other people. All I can say is F-U WMG for unreasonablely mute songs. -- Submitted By: (SSM) on January 6, 2011, 10:43 pm - (2 votes) - Login to Vote
I wish this greedy and morally bankrupt company would just fall off the edge of the earth and never be heard from again. And I still say THEY DON'T OWN MAGIC CARPET RIDE!! -- Submitted By: (jconifer7) on May 9, 2010, 1:56 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
Just another group of evil corporate fascists whose goal is to put a stop to every last shred of enjoyment people might get out of life. -- Submitted By: (DolFan316) on May 6, 2010, 6:53 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
Boned when they attacked YouTube over alleged copyright infringement. You wouldn't believe how many enemies and haters these people earned by attacking YouTube videos. -- Submitted By: (Robert) on May 6, 2010, 10:19 am - (2 votes) - Login to Vote
It's 2010 now and all of the muted videos are still muted. How Ironic -- Submitted By: (JBird) on May 5, 2010, 12:09 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
