The Indianapolis 500-Mile Race, also known as the Indianapolis 500, the Indy 500 or The 500, is an American automobile race, held annually over the Memorial Day weekend at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Speedway, Indiana. The event lends its name to the IndyCar class, or formula, of open-wheel race cars that have competed in it.

The Split. IRL/Indy Car splits because they think people will follow unknown American drivers, rather than follow semi-known foreign drivers?!? Under that logic, Alex Ovechkin (Russia) shouldn't be nowhere near popular in Washington for Hockey, Half these Dominican players shouldn't be stars in Baseball, and guys like Dirk Nowitzki (Germany), Paul Gasol (Spain), Yao Ming (China), or Patrick Ewing (Jamaica) shouldn't of been stars in Basketball.
