God became a crutch for people who had no will-power for themselves or for their fellow man. If god's idea is to let things continue to get worse and worse day in and day out. Then I'm not impressed. This is not divine planning or divine course. This is all human schematics playing the gears on how life is portrayed. If there was a God at all, he'd be looking out for your ass. -- Submitted By: (Infyrin) on September 22, 2013, 7:38 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
I think maybe I'm a Cessationist. I think there could have been a God a long time ago, but he either died or got bored and went somewhere else. -- Submitted By: (Travoltron) on November 19, 2010, 12:51 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
The goal of the soviet union was to ban religion, and Stalin was an atheism activist. Where did you hear he was religious? I'm not arguing with you, I just want to know. -- Submitted By: (Robert) on November 9, 2010, 8:33 am - (4 votes) - Login to Vote
"And isn't it strange how Muslims and Jews believe in God too, yet atheists never go after them?" RE: It might be becuase if you did so, they would blow you head off. Christians a seen as easy targets. -- Submitted By: (Tobywaud) on November 8, 2010, 9:43 pm - (4 votes) - Login to Vote
@Robert Your wrong about Stalin. He was in fact very deeply religous. Its just that people make him out to be an athiest as a way for non-athiests to use against them. Its like the the whole Darwin Confess on His death Bed thing... not true. -- Submitted By: (Tobywaud) on November 8, 2010, 9:42 pm - (-4 votes) - Login to Vote
I have no problem with god(s)... Its just the idiots who claim they are spreading his/her/their/its work, regardless of religion. -- Submitted By: (PYLrulz) on November 4, 2010, 5:07 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
I didn't intend anything towards Kingbk, it was JustLooking's initial comment that set me off and made me say to myself hey, wait just one minute here. Atheism *is* the new dominant religion. They do *everything* they condemn Christianity for, including trying to force their beliefs down people's throats and socially condemning and ostracizing anyone who doesn't buy in. Atheists are more intolerant than anybody. And isn't it strange how Muslims and Jews believe in God too, yet atheists never go after them? -- Submitted By: (DolFan316) on November 3, 2010, 8:59 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
Just for the record I don't hate God. Not at all. What I hate is when people use religion as a scapegoat to mask certain behaviors or people that try to force their religion onto other people. People that are atheist do it too, but I grew up in the church and the behavior of certain religious groups is downright sick. I grew up in the church and have seen it with my own eyes, so I'm not just saying it. I guess I should say God never boned, but religion might have. -- Submitted By: (kingbk) on November 3, 2010, 4:05 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
I totally agree with DolFan and Robert! All this hatin' on God is just foolishness! -- Submitted By: (Stephanie) on November 3, 2010, 3:00 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
The "unpleasant character" quote comes from Richard Dawkins. He is another intolerant atheist like Bill Maher and Christopher Hitchens. Anyone can cherry pick from the Bible to portray God as a cruel "tyrant", overlooking examples of him being benevolent and just. And yes, Dolfan, I think it's amusing how these people who vehemently don't believe in God suddenly believe in him when they need a scapegoat. Also, you don't need to be a religious fanatic to do terrible things. Stalin, Mao, and Pol Pot did not believe in God. But that didn't stop them from killing and torturing millions of people. If you eliminate religion, it won't bring world peace or end war...people will just kill each other in the name of something else. In fact, most do already. -- Submitted By: (Robert) on November 2, 2010, 1:02 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
Yada yada yada. The same people who say God doesn't exist are the ones who blame God for everything. Anyone else think that's weird? Or doesn't make sense? I also love how these people attribute behavior to God (who doesn't exist remember) while ignoring or enabling the same behavior that humans display 24/7 right in front of them. -- Submitted By: (DolFan316) on November 1, 2010, 7:11 pm - (2 votes) - Login to Vote
My stance is more and more having faith is good, but religion? Maybe not so much. -- Submitted By: (kingbk) on October 31, 2010, 11:40 pm - (2 votes) - Login to Vote
Pick any newspaper, look at the headlines and tell me there is an all caring compassionate god. I think not. The God of the Old Testament is arguably the most unpleasant character in all fiction: ... Jealous and proud of it; a petty, unjust, unforgiving control-freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully. What's worst is that people actually believe in this gray haired sky pixie. -- Submitted By: (JustLooking) on October 31, 2010, 6:01 pm - (-1 votes) - Login to Vote
