1 i don't see why Tork didn't sing lead on more of their songs.. only a handful. Dolenz and Jones were good singers but it would've been nice to hear Tork and Nesmith sing lead more often than they did..or maybe they preferred not to -- Submitted By: (stryker73) on August 23, 2012, 10:05 am - (4 votes) - Login to Vote
2 Never boned, but I don't think he was more talented than Mike Nesmith, and when you take both the quanity and quality of their songwriting contributions to The Monkees, I think it's no contest. Nesmith didn't just write country tunes to sing himself. He also wrote R&R songs that sounded good with Mickey Dolenz singing them(Girl I Knew Somewhere; Daily Nightly; Mary Mary). Tork's most notable contribution was "For Pete's Sake" (another vehicle for Dolenz' voice), but even on this he shared the credit. Some of the songs he wrote for "Head" were OK, but The Monkees' popularity was on the decline by then. -- Submitted By: (ParkerTillman) on July 17, 2012, 3:50 pm - (3 votes) - Login to Vote
3 Actually, Peter was probably the most musically talented of all the Monkees. -- Submitted By: (Stephanie) on November 23, 2010, 7:05 pm - (3 votes) - Login to Vote
