Music Groups - Starland Vocal Band
Starland Vocal Band was an American pop band which began as 'Fat City', a husband/wife duo of Bill Danoff and Taffy Nivert. The band was also composed of Jon Carroll (keyboards and vocals) and Margot Chapman (vocals). They were known primarily for "Afternoon Delight", one of the biggest-selling singles in 1976.

Actually it was Boston that was robbed of the best new artist for 1976. I remember hearing "Afternoon Delight" when I was nine years old not realizing what the song was really about. -- Submitted By: (JayD) on January 5, 2012, 11:45 pm - (2 votes)

"Afternoon Delight" is one of my ultimate guilty pleasure songs. It's awfully cheesy, but itt always can make me giggle, even if I'm in a terrible mood. Having said that, this band should never have won the Best New Artist Grammy. Elvis Costello was robbed! -- Submitted By: (kingbk) on March 24, 2011, 5:25 pm - (6 votes)

HEY!!! Starland Vocal Band ROCKS!!!
Okay, so maybe not. But they're better than almost every so-called "recording artist" today. Tell me I'm wrong. -- Submitted By: (DolFan316) on March 23, 2011, 6:43 pm - (1 votes)

You know, they recorded that sappy 70's hit 'Afternoon Delight.' Also, I'f I'm not mistaken Bill Danoff may have penned a hit or two for John Denver. -- Submitted By: (Friedrich_Feuerstein) on March 23, 2011, 9:59 am - (2 votes)
