There was an anime movie made in Japan in 1986. It wasn't anything special, but was Shakespeare compared to the live-action movie. And of course, the crappy one is easily available everywhere on DVD and the good one was only released briefly on VHS in Japan. -- Submitted By: (Travoltron) on May 17, 2012, 12:54 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
I remember going to see this movie when I was 9 years old, and even then, after watching it, I knew it was total garbage. -- Submitted By: (PYLrulz) on February 9, 2012, 3:41 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
Not only Bob Hopskins hated the movie but John Leguizamo and maybe Dennis Hopper hated doing the movie too. -- Submitted By: (SSM) on February 8, 2012, 1:31 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
When I was young, I liked a lot of movies based on games or cartoons, though I was too naive to notice something wasn't right in them. However, with this one, I knew at once something was really wrong. Bowser (Sorry, that's "King Koopa") was cast as a human instead of a spiked turtlelike monster, goombas were dinosaurs instead of those walking fanged mushrooms, Yoshi was a baby theropod instead of being large enough for Mario to ride, and the timeline took place in...the age of the dinosaurs?! I don't recall anything suggesting the cretaceous era in SMB, SMB2, or SMB3. Or even Super Mario Land. But, Super Mario World has Yoshi, and he's a dinosaur, so let's make the Mario cartoon and movie take place in the days of the dinosaurs! -- Submitted By: (Robert) on February 2, 2012, 2:01 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
Okay, now this did suck. Even Bob Hoskins has stated he wished he wouldn't have been in it. -- Submitted By: (Jp) on January 27, 2012, 10:41 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
I love seeing this movie as a little kid. It was a bit corny but it's little funny and entertaining too. I kinda understand why everybody hated it though as it didn't follow the stories of the Mario games exactly, but it still kept the spirit in it. At least they didn't change it too much that it ruin the chacracters. SMBTM is art compare to the today's movies, especially Dragonball Evoultion. -- Submitted By: (SSM) on January 16, 2011, 8:54 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
