A really good article on how Elmo ruined Sesame Street. http://kotaku.com/how-elmo-ruined-sesame-street-1746504585 -- Submitted By: (Travoltron) on January 16, 2016, 10:31 am - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
Tickle Me Elmo was the reason mallfights happen and everyone since has been bloodthristy to get this toy and other toys for their whining bratty kids every X-Mas. -- Submitted By: (Infyrin) on February 18, 2014, 1:01 am - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
I never got what's so damn great about Elmo in the first place? I mean, he was ok at first but he got mgot more and more annoying it seems. He's an attention seeker and his laugh makes me want to use a cheese grater on his face. -- Submitted By: (Icemouth) on November 28, 2012, 10:16 am - (3 votes) - Login to Vote
Now there are three accusers. Not looking good for Clash and he is not behaving like an innocent man. One article I read said that the statute of limitations for criminal charges has run out on these cases. I don't know enough about New York law to know if that's true. And yes, the Clash supporters are starting to remind me of Michael Jackson fans. -- Submitted By: (Travoltron) on November 26, 2012, 9:14 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
On a completely different tangent, I was on a flight recently - one that had hundreds of channels for movies, TV show episodes etc. There was one for Sesame Street which was entirely Elmo (as per the blurb, I did not watch it) on channel 666. Subtle message? -- Submitted By: (johnnydough) on November 25, 2012, 12:58 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
BTW, I apologize for using "their" (when I should've said "they're") in my previous comment. -- Submitted By: (cartooner) on November 24, 2012, 1:50 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
And, there's another underage rape victim. And people actually DEFENDING Kevin Clash if he did do it. Yeah, I guess you also want to pardon those disgusting pedo priests? Amazing how being a celebrity nets you scores of apologists, no matter how horrible your crime. -- Submitted By: (Robert) on November 24, 2012, 12:52 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Considering how popular Elmo is, their probably not going to retire him, and will just give him a new voice actor. PS: I'll remain neutral on the allegations until further evidence is given. -- Submitted By: (cartooner) on November 24, 2012, 1:18 am - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
I'd love to see Elmo be retired, but on yesterday's Macy's Parade Sesame Street float Elmo was there, front and center singing. (Sounded like it was still Clash's voice, too.) Too much $$$$ involved for Hasbro and Sesame Workshop to be rid of him. -- Submitted By: (Travoltron) on November 23, 2012, 9:09 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
Can we finally retire Elmo? The fact that the puppeteer for the character is a sick pedo is beyond the point, the character was always the worst of the Sesame Street lineup and now we have a good reason to move on from him. -- Submitted By: (kingbk) on November 18, 2012, 11:49 pm - (2 votes) - Login to Vote
Kevin Clash is a pedo? Forget it, I *DO* have a beef with Kevin Clash. The victim recanting his story was probably paid to shut up. -- Submitted By: (Robert) on November 15, 2012, 7:07 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
I saw that, but with a resolution this quick, I suspect the accuser was paid off. (TMZ says it was a six figure payout.) Regardless, we now for a fact that this guy trolls for hookups with dudes half his age, and used Sesame Street's computers to do so. This runs contrary to the whole clean-cut, nice-guy family man image that documentary portrayed. Elmo is still a lousy character and Kevin Clash is creepy. -- Submitted By: (Travoltron) on November 15, 2012, 12:34 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Regarding the recent accusations of Kevin Clash: According to this article (http://www.avclub.com/articles/the-accuser-in-the-elmo-sex-scandal-has-recanted-h,88720/), the guy who made the allegations recanted his story (meaning, he took it back). -- Submitted By: (cartooner) on November 14, 2012, 7:40 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
OK, forget everything I said about Kevin Clash allegedly being a nice guy. Yeeesh. I guess now I can hate Elmo 100% without any guilt. -- Submitted By: (Travoltron) on November 12, 2012, 5:41 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote

There's a recent documentary about the guy who plays Elmo going around. Everything I've heard about the man is that he's a really nice guy. So I almost feel bad for saying... I HATE Elmo. Such a cloying, pandering character. According to Muppet Wiki, Elmo has been around "since the early 1970s" and I do remember him being there when I was a kid, but as a very, very minor character. And he was fine in those miniscule doses. Over the years, he gradually got more and more screentime until he became a main character. I'm not entirely sure, but I think it was shortly after the Tickle-Me-Elmo craze in the mid-'90s that he dethroned Big Bird as THE main character. Eventually it was no longer an ensemble anymore and effectively The Elmo Show. -- Submitted By: (Travoltron) on January 11, 2012, 8:47 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
I'm with you. I notice nobody's yet defended Elmo saying, "he's just a puppet". I guess Elmo really IS worse than Lisa! -- Submitted By: (Robert) on June 7, 2011, 11:33 am - (3 votes) - Login to Vote
Soggy, If memory serves me correctly, Grover doesn't wear a jockstrap. Hence, I think a more apt analogy would be to say that Elmo isn't worthy to sweep Cookie Monster's cookie crumbs off the counter! Anyone else with me? -- Submitted By: (Pelirojo) on June 5, 2011, 4:12 pm - (4 votes) - Login to Vote
To paraphrase Larry Holmes, Elmo is not fit to carry Grover's jockstrap. -- Submitted By: (Soggy9000) on June 4, 2011, 11:41 pm - (5 votes) - Login to Vote
Elmo destroyed Sesame Street, I think I remember him being one of minor background charcaters before that Tickle Me Elmo made him popular. Besides pushing Glover ,Oscar and Big Bird into the background, they also cut most classic segments too, ethier shorter or not shown at all for that 20+ mins of crap they called Elmo World. -- Submitted By: (SSM) on May 31, 2011, 4:26 pm - (3 votes) - Login to Vote
