Celebrities - Vlad The Impaler
Vlad III, Prince of Wallachia (1431-1476), more commonly known as Vlad the Impaler or simply as Dracula, was a three-time Voivode of Wallachia, ruling mainly from 1456 to 1462.
Historically, Vlad III is best known for his resistance against the Ottoman Empire and its expansion[3] and for the impaling of enemies.[4]
Vlad III is believed to have inspired the association of his name to that of the vampire Count Dracula in Bram Stoker's 1897 novel Dracula.[4]

Just so folks know- he got the name of 'the Impaler' for how he sometimes executed folks and it wasn't through the chest. The method's not something that most folks would want to have recreated for dramatic purposes but let's put it this way, it could have been the origin of the "Happy Days" catchphrase 'sit on it'! Yeah, truth's not only stranger but it can at times be NASTIER than fiction. -- Submitted By: (Pelirojo) on December 15, 2011, 12:29 pm - (0 votes)
