Mortal Kombat, commonly abbreviated MK, is a science fantasy series of fighting games created by Ed Boon and John Tobias. The first four renditions and their updates were developed by Midway Games and initially released on arcade machines. The arcade titles were later picked up by Acclaim Entertainment for the home console conversions. Beginning with Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance, Midway Games exclusively created home versions of Mortal Kombat up until Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe. Following Midway's bankruptcy, the franchise was picked up by Warner Bros. in July 2009 and became a part of the Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment Branch.[1]

It is a long time waiting for a Marvel vs DC game. But the problem is all the sissy copyright, licensing, agreements etc etc is going to take forever to settle. Not to mention with Disney owning Marvel, they may never let it happen now. It's just a headache for everyone to make it happen so I guess we'll have to just deal with Marvel vs Capcom if anything. MK had only two games with large rosters. Trilogy (33) and Armageddon (62). Basically what is important to any cross-over game be it fighting, is who is really worth putting in. MK3, Deadly Alliance, and Deception didn't exactly introduce any favorable new characters. Lol, Darrius, Dairou, Dragon King (Onaga), Bo Rai Cho, Taven are just a few that would never see the cut. Most of them were crappy. So, the obvious choice for any MK cross-over was to put it's best in. Sub, Scorp, Kang, Rayden etc etc I'm still saying that if you're going to make cross-over games, they should think what would be most compatible. Marvel vs Capcom was a strange idea at first, but it worked so well. Street Fighter vs Tekken? Another example of a very compatible match. Super Smash Bros is another. MK vs DC? What? What did MK have anything to do with DC and why? Besides the developers for MK being tied to Time Warner which was just simply an excuse. If MK should cross-over with anything, I think Killer Instinct ought to be a suitable match. -- Submitted By: (Infyrin) on September 2, 2013, 4:28 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
I know it was popular, but I wasn't a huge fan of it. I'd rather it just be an expansive X-Men game with Angel, Jean Grey, etc. -- Submitted By: (Travoltron) on September 1, 2013, 12:17 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Travoltron, what about Capcom vs Marvel? That was immensely popular, as I recall. I can't speak for DC but I know MK had several games with large rosters. I believe it started with Ultimate MK3. I do agree there should be a DC vs Marvel game. -- Submitted By: (Jp) on August 30, 2013, 3:59 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Crossover games are just dumb. Why not just make one MK game or one DC game with a huge roster of characters? The only crossover game that I'd ever want to see would be a Marvel VS DC game. -- Submitted By: (Travoltron) on August 29, 2013, 5:52 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
MK vs DC sounded good on paper. But it was god awful in the end. There really isn't anything good you could cross-over with Mortal Kombat. Because MK's reputation was always built on gory fatalities and brutalaties. It wouldn't combine well with the likes of the street fighter crowd or tekken crowd because those franchises are more fleshed out fighting games. Luckily, Mortal Kombat got revised later on into a hell of a good game. DC finally would get it's own fighting game and all is good. -- Submitted By: (Infyrin) on August 27, 2013, 11:36 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
I really don't understand how a crossover would work with the Mortal Kombat universe. It's even more weird that they crossed over with DC. Is Superman going to have his heart ripped out? Is Batman going to rip out the Joker's spinal cord? Is Scorpion going to tip his dagger with a shard of Kryptonite? How are fatalities from DC characters going to work out? -- Submitted By: (Robert) on July 17, 2011, 1:15 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
I've always enjoyed Mortal Kombat. Although, DC vs MK series, I'm not particularly fond of. -- Submitted By: (Jp) on July 13, 2011, 8:33 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
