This show did what a lot of sci-fi shows, books, and movies do: insult their audience! The producers seem to think sci-fi means incredible CGI and action extravaganza, devoid of any meangingful plot, science, or humanity. My main obejctions: Stupid Premise: What is the physics behind this, exactly? Stereotyped Characters: Strong man, devious woman, strong woman, devious man, and cute children. Awful Writing: May as well not had any dialogue at all. This is an actual quote, I wrote it down. Commander Taylor: "Hmm. Hmmm. I don't know. Hmmmm. Maybe." Just because Spielberg was greedy enough to put his name on this thing does not make it great entertainment. -- Submitted By: (jmac9909) on July 11, 2013, 9:44 am - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
I love how people who really blast this show have no idea what went on. Yep a little contrived, but nothing was etched in stone. There were slowly unfolding plot devices that, clearly, were just a little too subtle for the american "slpain it to me" attitude. On the other hand, based on the season 1 finale, this could have taken the X-files route with constant additions of threats and threads, with no resolutions. Maybe Fox saved us from 5 more years of "they have a plan" -- Submitted By: (Tedward) on April 4, 2013, 7:31 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
I liked it for a while but found it to be full of stock characters, lazy writing, and blatantly sociopolitical cliches. Don't want to watch a show to be browbeaten, sorry Fox. -- Submitted By: (Replicant10k) on May 30, 2012, 12:09 am - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
I found out that my parents love this show, so now I feel kind of bad for lambasting it like I did. :) Like FOX cares what I think of their show anyways. -- Submitted By: (Travoltron) on February 15, 2012, 11:25 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
I watched the show for the first few episodes, then just gradually lost interest.. i'm sure it won't get a second season -- Submitted By: () on February 15, 2012, 8:31 am - (2 votes) - Login to Vote
I liked the first episode and I could live with the alternate timeline B.S but I thought it would involve more with the Dinosaurs, not just use them as a cheap plot/prop trick. I can't believe how generic that a series based in the prehistoric era with people from the future has been. And the way both of the parents are cool with the fact that a twenty-something year old soldier is dating their sixteen year old daughter?! Oh and Josh is a HUGE douche. -- Submitted By: (Wolfix) on February 14, 2012, 10:28 pm - (6 votes) - Login to Vote
What everybody else said. I think they blew the budget on making everything look good, then realized they had to have writers come up with good material. Day One! -- Submitted By: (PYLrulz) on October 29, 2011, 3:30 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Big budget, wonderful scenery, great set-up, lots of coverage, lots of effort going into style and aesthetics. Where was the work on the script or writing? Fell asleep in front of this doozie during the first episode. NEXT! -- Submitted By: (johnnydough) on October 26, 2011, 6:59 am - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
Thank you Travoltron, for uncovering the ugly truth about yet another overhyped TV show!!! I kept being bombarded with ads for this turkey yammering on about how awesomely great it was. Now nobody talks about it. Literally. -- Submitted By: (DolFan316) on October 25, 2011, 7:57 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
I only watched the pilot. The concept sounded great: People from a dystopian future seek refuge in prehistoric times and pioneer their own civilization. Then when I actually watch the thing, it's really not like that. Because of some silly contrivances, they go to prehistoric times-- and the civilation is already founded. This generic TV family doesn't even have to build their own house; it's already built for them for some reason. Would the story force the characters to tread carefully, with the threat of mucking up humanity's timeline? Nope, all that is handwaved away with an "parallel universe" explanation. The casting is all "Dawson's Creek/90210" perfect-looking Hollywood types. Their clothes look like they came from the local mall and not hand-made. I really should have known the show was doomed when I Brannon Braga's name in the credits, the guy behind Voyager and Enterprise. Apparently so much money is going to these useless producers that they can't afford props! http://geeks.thedailywh.at/2011/10/18/low-budget-tv-props-of-the-day/ -- Submitted By: (Travoltron) on October 18, 2011, 10:01 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
