I've read that the story he's been telling about the girlfriend being the reason for leaving SNL is just an excuse. He left due to an inflated ego and for greed. By all accounts he's also one of the meanest, most miserable SOBs in Hollywood and no one wants to work with him anymore. -- Submitted By: (Travoltron) on May 2, 2013, 9:35 pm - (0 votes)

Definitely when he left SNL, not to mention his SUPER LAME reason for leaving. He wanted to be closer to a girlfriend who ended up not working out, and lived in LA. She wasn't willing to join him in NY in spite of the fact that his gig beat the living hell out of whatever hers could possibly have been. Plenty of fish in the sea for a young single guy considered to be THE STAR of a ground breaking show. Lame....REAL lame.....I'm talking Kevin Arnold never chasing anyone other than Winnie Cooper kinda lame.
DOUBLE BONED when he returned to SNL as guest host with the Joe Piscopo / Eddie Murphy cast and did the entire episode via video monitor after missing his plane. Still pussy whipped Chevy? He/they shouldn't have even bothered. One of the most unfunny SNL presentations ever. -- Submitted By: (ParkerTillman) on July 9, 2012, 2:22 pm - (0 votes)

I've seen recently seen him reprise his Clark Griswold role on commercials for an alternative to hotels. One may think he's getting desperate to have agreed to do that but consider that at least he gets to SPEAK while Beverly D'Angelo reprising her role as his wife spends the whole time silently cringing. -- Submitted By: (Pelirojo) on April 15, 2010, 11:50 am - (0 votes)

I will say Chevy Chase in his prime was ten times funnier than any comedy wannabe these days. It's probably best that he *doesn't* come back lest he make like Buzz Aldrin and become yet another "reality TV" joke. -- Submitted By: (DolFan316) on April 14, 2010, 10:26 pm - (0 votes)
