1 Well, I knew that Ragnar wasn't dead, it was obvious. Anyone who has watched more than a few episodes would recognize the trick was intended to first, fool the French, and second, to ferret out disloyal members of the camp, such as Floki, Kalf, and Horik's son, Erlendur. Rollo was certainly not above suspicion since he had betrayed his brother before and actually joined forces against him. I found it amusing the French were so easily duped and still, after being double-crossed twice, are still offering to negotiate. -- Submitted By: (spacer) on April 24, 2015, 8:22 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
2 Everyone knows Ragnar isn't dead except his brother, best friend, and former wife. Total attempt to manipulate the viewer that fails badly. -- Submitted By: () on April 23, 2015, 10:09 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
3 Love this show! Love it! Ragnar is over-the-top awesome even if he tends to be a little on the murdery side, lol! Life back in the 9th Century was tough, peeps, and guys like Ragnar and his crew did what they had to do to make a living. Sure, they raided and killed but they were stuck in frigid, barren, rocky, medieval Norway for god's sake. To their credit, they kept saying they wanted to colonize warmer lands and become farmers so they could stop all the looting and maiming but the snooty English didn't want them for neighbors. First rate show, beautifully filmed and acted, watch it! -- Submitted By: (martymarty) on June 7, 2014, 9:28 am - (2 votes) - Login to Vote
4 Ok, weird premise: one of history's most notorious bands of horrid, murderous, thieving thugs, portrayed as a tight-knit group who love each other and only want the best for their kids! It seems the producers are saying hey! these guys are just like us! Except my family and I don't murder innocent people and steal from their dead, butchered corpses. The acting, writing, direction, and photography are all well above average and you can get easily sucked into the world of Ragnar and his associates. They can be really sweet characters for a few episodes and then they cut the throats of innocents because they want their gold. The Season 1 raid on the English church and monastery was particularly brutal. The Vikings went out of their way to terrify the monks and priests and desecrate their church before hacking them to death with axes and looting all their valuables. I got the same uneasy feeling watching The Vikings as I did watching The Sopranos. I realized that I was actually rooting for Tony and liked him even though he was a stone cold killer. Ragnar is depicted as such a charmer everyone likes him and tends to forgive his quirks (like murder and thievery). All in all it is a good show and the acting is excellent. -- Submitted By: (jmac9909) on March 31, 2014, 12:18 pm - (2 votes) - Login to Vote
