TV Shows - Sons of Tucson

This show has become infamous for being cancelled after only 4 episodes. It starred the very funny Tyler Labine and 3 unknown child actors. Fox was heavily criticized for not sticking with the show long enough to let it find it's audience. The premise is 3 brothers find themselves alone after their dad is sent to prison. They hire Labine's character to pretend to be their dad so they can register for school and have access to the family's bank accounts. Critics noted the similarities between Tucson and Malcolm in the Middle. It was in fact produced by Justin Berfield who played Reese in MITM.

1 I remember this show. I wondered why it was cancelled so quickly, it seemed pretty funny o me! -- Submitted By: (jmac9909) on October 10, 2014, 8:57 pm - (2 votes) - Login to Vote
2 I agree, this was a very funny, weird and offbeat show. I saw all 19 episodes on Netflix and can't believe Fox cancelled it after only 4 episodes. That was really shortsighted and sucky. Tyler Labine was funny as hell as the faux dad and the boys were funny in a weird way, they were really messed up emotionally but they all bonded and morphed into a pretty cool family unit. -- Submitted By: (spacer) on October 9, 2014, 8:08 am - (3 votes) - Login to Vote
3 Finally, someone remembered this show! Fox did an all out publicity campaign and expected an instant mega-hit and when they didn't get, they cancelled it, after 4 freakin' episodes, come on! Amazingly the ratings weren't half bad. There are plenty of shows that get renewed with numbers a lot lower but Fox wanted another Malcolm in the Middle. They hired lots of MITM alumni including directors and producers Todd Holland and Peter Lauer, writers Michael Glouberman, Matthew Carlson, and Andy Bobrow and producer Justin Berfield who played Reese in MITM. It was a funny show and would have been a hit if allowed to live. I don't know why Fox even bothers, sometimes. If any of the Tucson cast and crew ever see this, good work, guys! You were robbed! -- Submitted By: (martymarty) on October 3, 2014, 1:14 pm - (5 votes) - Login to Vote
