American Idol (American Idol: The Search for a Superstar in season 1) is an American singing competition airing on Fox. It debuted on June 11, 2002, and has since become one of the most popular shows on American television. Part of the Idol franchise, it is a spinoff from the reality program Pop Idol, which was created by British entertainment executive Simon Fuller and first aired in 2001 in the United Kingdom.

They've axed all the judges (Seacrest won't return either), and will replace them, as part of the 'overhaul' Fox plans on giving this show after the current season. Among the 'dream team' of new judges? Selena Gomez, Justin Beiber, Pink and P. Diddy! Diddy and maybe Pink I can understand, but Selena and Beiber??! This is the first year I refused to watch American Idol, mainly because of Nikki. Is she ever annoying. The way she speaks is like nails on a chalk board. Also, I got tired of the same old theme nights. There is always a Motown/Stevie Wonder week and invarably someone does "For Once In My Life," or "Higher Ground" done RHCP style. There are a lot of good reasons listed for this show boning but the very first time it boned was when Kara showed up. Before that they had three distinct judges so there couldn't be a tie. Soggy9000, the show is no more horrid that anything Hanna-Barbera made in the 70s or 80s. NO different than the crap music that started appearing thirtyyears ago. And you never heard the saying, apparently, honey draws flies better than vinegar. Plus I have cousins who work on the show and enjoy it. Nyeah. This show is one of those shows I just never understand what is so popular about it. Most of the winners are just there for their 15 minutes of fame and don't even stay on top of the music charts for very long. The only thing worth watching is the pre-season auditions when the judges are putting down some of the people who really deserve it. Other than that this show is boring, Boring, BORE-ING! The contestants on this horrid program don't really respect music as anything more than a tool. To them it's just a means to an end - the vehicle which will bring them the fame and wealth they lust for - rather than an end in itself. I'm imbarassed to say i was very addicted to this show the first few seasons,but it got old very quickly.basically its the same thing every season.lots of bad singers, a few marginal ones and very good ones. its very predictable. the judges are very dull and boring, randy cant say much beyond yo dog and pitchy ,simon with his few comments and paula doesnt even know were shes at most of the times.it boned the fish for me when I found out it was staged. the worst part of the show is that the winners(and i use that term loosely) all sound the same to me. i dont care what thier age sex race or what part of the country they come from---they all sound the same. -- Submitted By: (hifijohn) on June 12, 2011, 3:08 am - (2 votes)
