She wasn't even convicted of insider trading, but for "lying to investigators". Of course, since they couldn't prove insider trading, it remains ambiguous exactly what she "lied" about. I think she got railroaded with a "spite charge" when they realized they had precious little evidence against her. My mother was a big fan of her pre-incarceration TV show. I'm going to have to say that by Showbiz standards, she got royally screwed over. Other celebs drink and drive, get high, assail, rape, and even murder and just get a slap on the wrist. What did Martha do? Ohh, she LIED to an investigator.
