Celebrities who talk about being spiritual are NOT spiritual. Period. You wanna be spiritual, then abandon money and fame, maybe then I'll be convinced. -- Submitted By: (DolFan316) on July 28, 2010, 9:42 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
Travoltron, I think you've hit the nail square on the head. Comedians tend to be very dark people by nature and it is that darkness from whence their humor arises. When the lose that darkness, they tend to lose the humor along with it. -- Submitted By: (Friedrich_Feuerstein) on July 27, 2010, 2:51 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Good point Travoltron. That does seem to happen with a lot of those comedians. The moment they are off the drugs, they just lose it. -- Submitted By: (PYLrulz) on July 26, 2010, 10:06 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
I daresay Love Guru was when Mike Myers boned. He was probably teetering on the brink before then. -- Submitted By: (BigAl) on July 26, 2010, 12:59 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
I can't pinpoint exactly when he stopped being funny. -- Submitted By: (Robert) on July 26, 2010, 12:31 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Sometimes I wonder if something is lost when an artist or (especially) a comedian finds "inner peace". Maybe the thing that was tormenting them was the thing that made them interesting or funny. Lots of people say that the original '70s SNL players stopped being funny when they got off drugs, for example. -- Submitted By: (Travoltron) on July 25, 2010, 9:58 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
Mike Myers is another SNL comedian who had a lot longer and more prominent career than he probably should have (Rob Schneider, Adam Sandler, David Spade, etc.) Travelton, I agree with your statements on the Eastern religion thing. That's a big pet peeve of mine, not because I'm against Eastern religion per say, but it seems to be one of those religious things people do to be different for the sake of being different. That bugs me. -- Submitted By: (kingbk) on July 24, 2010, 4:47 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
I read an interview with him right before Love Guru came out. He was so in love with himself and with Deepak Chopra. He basically said he doesn't even try to be funny anymore because he already knows he is. He is at one with funny, or something. And that he cared more about "educating" people in Indian spirituality than entertaining them. Is it just me, or does pursuit of Indian spirituality=automatic fishboning? (The Beatles come to mind.) -- Submitted By: (Travoltron) on July 22, 2010, 2:09 pm - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
Agreed. It's almost as if in his mind that he thought that being like Austin Powers, just with different roles, was the way to go. Was funny, but boned a long time ago. -- Submitted By: (PYLrulz) on February 8, 2010, 8:07 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
After all the bad films, I'm wondering how I ever found this hack funny in the first place, he is just painful to watch anymore. Sad. Pass the Slaw for Mike Myers. -- Submitted By: (Chubby Rain) on February 8, 2010, 12:29 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
He has become a cartoon character. When was the last time he was in a movie where he used his real voice? -- Submitted By: (MCS) on April 27, 2009, 9:34 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
