TV Shows - Ghost Hunters

Ghost Hunters is a reality television series featuring Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson, who work a day job as Roto-Rooter plumbers and by night investigate places that are reported to be haunted. The show debuted in October 2004 on the American Sci-Fi Channel. It should not be confused with the original 1996 Inca Productions show Ghosthunters produced for the Discovery Channel. The format was sold to the US to become Ghost Hunters. The only remaining link between the two shows is presenter Ian Cashmore who anchored the UK/Europe show. Cashmore piloted the U.S. show, but chose not to remain part of the US venture after he filmed the promos.

1 Excellent point, soggy! The show wouldn't have lasted one episode if they said 'it's all a bunch of malarkey and trickery!' Give me pre-Scrappy "Scooby Doo" re-runs any day over this! -- Submitted By: (Pelirojo) on May 14, 2011, 3:54 pm - (-1 votes) - Login to Vote

3 When the show first started they operated out of a trailer in Jason's backyard and it was pretty good. But of course it grew and morphed into what it is today because of big money. To me, these are just a sample of when it boned the fish: a) when Jason and Grant bought that B & B inn and had the other ghost hunters investigate it on an episode (why didn't they just flash the reservation number?) b) when Jason did those Quicken commercials c) Ghost Hunters Academy (need I say more??) d) too many questionable incidents of 'paranormal' activity involving Grant and the staging of evidence (the internet is full of this) e) when former member Donna came out in an interview and 'almost' said it's all faked. Well, that is just a few. Did watch some of 'live' episode last night so we could keep a watch on Grant's hands!! -- Submitted By: (BashebaGirl) on November 1, 2010, 6:00 am - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
4 I really liked this show when it first started due to the idea that these guys were going out and while investigating hauntings were also looking to disprove them. If they weren't able to disprove what they found then they might be left with the paranormal. They would have their team review the evidence, bring it to them, then shoot a bunch of stuff down and end up with very little evidence. Sometimes, there were episodes with nothing, no paranormal. As much as was always looking for them to find something it was kind of fulfilling to see them not find anything and assume this was a legit show. But apparently since this is television the audience is going to want to see something or hear some crap EVP on every episode so Jay and Grant seemed to have to lose their skepticism. This is where is stopped being good and started to do some serious Fish Boning. I still really love the show because I want to watch and see some really great piece of evidence but I'm usually left with crap EVPs and noises off camera. I'm thinking this bones right after the second or third season. -- Submitted By: (dr_sarcastor) on August 28, 2010, 10:37 am - (1 votes) - Login to Vote

6 I still enjoy the show, but it seems like they are being pushed to determine that more places are "haunted". Much of the evidence they used to find unsure, they now use to make it more exciting. In the first few seasons most of the places they investigated were declared not haunted, but in recent shows, everything is haunted. It just makes them less believable. As a ghost hunter I have discovered maybe one in ten places I investigate are haunted. Granted I do not have the financial backing to go to America's most haunted places. Which may be another aspect of this issue. TAPS used to go to people's houses to help them, now they go to more interesting spots. I suppose ratings are an issue. -- Submitted By: (Qsh) on December 5, 2009, 11:44 am - (1 votes) - Login to Vote
7 Great show. Even if you don't believe anything supernatural the neat places they visit make up for it. -- Submitted By: (JoeBagODonuts) on April 20, 2009, 7:21 pm - (2 votes) - Login to Vote
