TV Shows - Darkwing Duck

Darkwing Duck is an Emmy-nominated American animated television series produced by The Walt Disney Company that ran from 1991-1995 on both the syndicated programming block The Disney Afternoon and Saturday mornings on ABC. It featured an eponymous superhero anthropomorphic duck with the alter ego of Drake Mallard (voiced by Jim Cummings). It is the first of two spin-offs of Ducktales.

1 Loved him. Have no idea how he was related to Uncle Scrooge McDuck, though. Never saw the pilot episode. -- Submitted By: (Shiddy_Smell) on January 9, 2011, 6:39 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
2 That is the show that defines the '90s of my childhood. Darkwing Duck rules! Too bad today cartoons is not even close to good, it's either too annoying, pointless, or just plain unfunny because of of the sake of being PC. -- Submitted By: (SSM) on January 9, 2011, 9:18 am - (0 votes) - Login to Vote

4 I think Darkwing Duck will stand as a show that found the perfect balance between Drama and Comedy to create an intelligent series that both child and adult could enjoy. Darkwing was not perfect but he always captured the bad guy/girl in the end. Sure, he was a bit silly but it's nice to have a fun Super Hero once in a while. Gosalyn was cute but had just enough attitude to let her be cool while still allowing her to be sweet at times in a way that felt natural. Her presence worked and I don't recall off hand the writers at any time making Darkwing look like a fool in order to make Gosalyn look good. Gosalyn was a strong character but this was Darkwing's show. His villains were fun and again, I think they found a good balance between comedy and drama that made them fun but just serious enough to keep the show light-hearted without degenerating into total farce. If you've never seen this show, I recommend trying to find it as it's a rare Gem that I think everyone can enjoy. -- Submitted By: (ExplodingConsole) on July 31, 2009, 1:04 am - (2 votes) - Login to Vote

8 The later ABC episodes were not as memorable as the Disney Afternoon seasons, but Darkwing never really came close to a "Bone The Fish" moment. -- Submitted By: (LoyalPigeon) on April 25, 2009, 8:15 pm - (0 votes) - Login to Vote
