The Senate was originally purposed to represent the interests the States in Congress and the House of Representatives the people. That is why there is an equal number of senators for each state and the House is apportioned by population. State legislatures elected each senator to represent them. The Gong Show boned when the show became more about Barris, Jaye P Morgan, and gags like unknown comic and Gene Gene the Dancing Machine then the contestants. Snopes is an essential website that should be shown to every newbie on the Internet. I've lost count of the number of rumours I've researched on Snopes (it's the first thing I do when I get one in my email) then send the link back to the gullible sender. However, Snopes' website is archaic and needs a good overhaul to make it easier to navigate as well as make it look more professional.
