Carol Burnett and Friends - TV Shows
Pelirojo, correct me if I'm remembering something wrong here, but I thought Harvey Korman left before the final season because he got his own variety show, which also didn't work out and was cancelled after only a few episodes. I thought after his own show was cancelled that he returned to Carol Burnett to replace the short-lived Van Dyke and finish out the show's final season. Cablevision - TV Shows
Cablevision still acts like a monopoly even though they are not. The latest sick Cablevision joke is their dispute with The Tribune Company which is currently depriving us of WPIX and Antenna TV. Next time Verizon FIOS comes a-calling again, I'll be inclined to take them more seriously this time. The Dolans, who run Cablevision, also own Madison Square Garden, The Knicks and Rangers. Bosom Buddies - TV Shows
I voted "Never Boned", but ABC boned for it. The network was this show's biggest problem. Cancelled, resurrected and moved around the schedule more than once. By the time it was brought back for the last time, I think the writers had the guys "out" themselves just to change things up and have Kip and Sunny take the next step in their relationship, but like people pointed out, the tension was gone. I think the whole thing was rushed because the writers were walking on eggshells, waiting for ABC to pull the carpet out from under them...AGAIN....which of course they did. At the end of the day, Bosom Buddies was a good show that was handled poorly by the network. OMG! Soggy really hit the nail on the head with that one! I know right away when Little Joe sees some chick and gets that "smitten look" on his face that I best be making a beeline for the remote and find a true crime story on ID or something. This is one episode bound to leave me bitterly disappointed. I've been through a broken engagement IRL. It started out OK, but when Martin Balsam left the show, it boned. The Murray Klein character was a decent "liberal foil" for Archie at the bar. I think Mike Lupica put it best (paraphrasing here): The players went on strike in 1994 because they were afraid the owners would unilaterally impose a salary cap in the absence of a CBA. However, when the owners actually tried this, the courts (Sonia Sotomayor) told them that they couldn't, which ended the strike toward the end of Spring Training 1995. Meanwhile, the 1994 World Series was cancelled. There's no winning with this made up holiday. Either you're massively depressed because you're alone and having to watch everyone else observe this around you, or you're massively annoyed at having to scramble to do something for this in the middle of a work week, because let's face it, this is ONLY important to WOMEN. Unidentifed Flying Objects (UFOs) - Random Topics
There may be other life forms out there somewhere, but we will never know them, and vice versa, unless someone can explain to me how anyone mastered traveling at many times the speed of light to get here, or how we're going to do that in order to get somewhere else. I think agnostics who believe in UFOs are particularly daffy. God they can't accept, but extra-terrestrials travelling at the speed of light? No problem! Antenna TV (if Cablevision ever brings it back) beats the hell out of TV Land now. I think the beginning of the end for TV Land was when they started showing reality garbage like "She's Got The Look" (40 and 50-somethings competing to be models for gay guys - and how are they experts on beautiful women if they're gay guys?) and "High School Reunion" (like I really care about a "hedging lesbian's" experimental "date" and didn't know how that would go, unlike the dumb guy who wasted his time with that - and she wasn't even cute so you hoped she'd "stay gay" which she did). Profanity - Random Topics
I'm not a big profanity advocate. Don't get me wrong, but Stir Crazy was an R-rated movie, and this channel wasn't censoring "F" or "S". They were censoring "ass kisser" to say "brown nose" instead. Nobody wants their kids going around saying "ass kisser", but what the censors did there is take the unexpectedness out of the joke, and that was what made it funny. The guy Gene Wilder said it to threatens to punch him out....for calling him a brown nose? No, but for calling him an "ass kisser", it kinda makes sense. That's all I'm saying.
